What's new

Indian Punjab is Self Destructing....Unlike Pakistan's Punjab

put some respect on people from undroon shehr
We are pure and even we don't consider outside undroon Punjab...

Been 5 times. Was not impressed. Less so by the people. Plus Lahori dialect of punjabi sounds gay. I swear, the way you guys say ‘aah Yaar’ makes me burst out laughing every time.

And most young generation of lahoris just parrot sikh culture from music to the way sikhs speak punjabi(punjabi hindi mix). Sikhs sound like cartoons when they speak punjabi.

Maybe it was just a culture shock for me as I am from a village.

I don't know how to react to this statement. It is beyond silly.

I know how to react to your statements because it 100 percent has to do with your affinity to your biradiri members across the border. I can’t say I blame you because Punjabis are not a homogeneous race of people but rather divided by clans and biradiris.

Let me share a secret with you. Most punjabis that have ties to East punjab don’t care for sikhs or all that cross border bonhomie shit.

You are right ... And I can understand that you being an 'Arain' Punjabi Muslim feel no affinity with Punjabi Sikhs and Hindus as Arains, Pakistani Punjab's third largest clan, are exclusively Muslims and do not share origins with other indigenous clans of Punjab.

However, what I don't understand is your dislike for Lahore / central Punjab. Probably that has to do with the fact that you live in Seraiki belt of southern Punjab that has been historically averse to Takht - e - Lahore ? .. Many Arains have been living in and around Lahore for centuries and are very much a local tribe

..even we don't consider outside undroon Lahore- Lahore Punjab...

Lahore is the heart of Pakistan and Punjab... Don't be selfish, bro

Lahore was the largest city in South Asia (and second largest in Asia) in the 16th century. Lahore has a very rich history and culture .. It's our common heritage

It’s just lahoris. My grandfathers are respectively from Sahiwal and Faislabad. Also have links to Gujranwala.

They are Muslim Mali

We are farmers. And I must admit I love gardening. I have a talent for growing crops and all kinds of plants and flowers.

@B.K.N ...

Not necessarily... The colonial historians recognized "Arain" as a caste in some areas of Punjab and as a profession (Mali, Baghban etc) in other areas. They mention that some Arains claim Hindu origins and are closely related to Kambohs.

Muslim historians are of the view that they either came to the subcontinent as Muhammad Bin Qasim's soldiers or were locals who converted to Islam and joined the Arab army. Some others claim that they were brought to India by the Mughals as Gardners and cultivators.

Sikhs claim that the British settled Arains in Punjab on a large scale after Anglo Sikh wars to counter Jat/Sikh domination in the region.

Most sources however agree that Arains came from Uch / Multan to central Punjab ( where they were almost 17% of the entire population as per official colonial censuses conducted in late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries)

I have never fully understood the Arain/Kamboh linkage. Am Kamboh and have heard our elders say the same that the Arains are closely related to us but what are they basing this claim on? If Arains came from the Seraiki belt to central Punjab in 18th century then that does not fully match with Kamboh history, as Kambohs are part and parcel of central Punjab since at least Mughal times (Muhammad Saleh Kamboh, Shahbaz Khan Kamboh etc. all high ranking officials/generals in Lahore).

.
1979(or 70s ish) something richest province in whole subcontinent was PP (like biggest gdp) even though its not located on coast - of course to reach that level once again we as a nation needs to get our act together (especially our port regions, inward areas cant progress without port)
Yes Karachi need cleaning up, Gwadar needs developing ASAP and other port cities need to be developed

Kambohs too were recognized by the colonialists as "finest cultivators". Majority of the Kambohs (63%) were Hindus and Sikhs whereas Arains were 97% Muslim (Sunnis) as per the official censuses. It's possible that some of the Kambohs who converted to Islam started to identify themselves with Arains instead of Kambohs. The Brits noted that In the Sahiwal region, a man is called Arain if he was a Muslim and Kamboh if he's a Hindu. But many Kambohs in other areas preferred to be identified as Muslim Kambohs. Some Kambohs have their own traditions claiming origin from Kashmir. Some Arains have traditions that Kambohs and Arains are descendants of the same ancestor, only one of them legitimate ( just like Arab / Israelites).

Most probably, Some Kambohs are related to some Arains and the castes are not related as a whole. Also, Arains are a mixed group

That is one possible explanation yes. It is interesting though that Muslim Kambohs uninamously call themselves Kamboh unlike their Sikh/Hindu counterparts who use the word "Kamboj". It seems to suggest that the divergence between the two groups took place a long way back if they use different names (but still related of course) to describe themselves, unlike Jutt, Gujjar, Rajputs who write and pronounce their names in the same way regardless of religious affiliation.

The Arab/Israelite theory just sounds like nonsense to be honest. There is a clear linkage between the ancient Kambojas of the Gandhara region and the Kamboh/Kamboj of today.

The fact that the British colonialists had officially recorded the name of the caste as "Kamboh" (for Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims) and not "Kamboj" suggests that Kambo"j" is a rather recent adaptation by Hindus/Sikhs in a bid to resemble the historic name i.e Kamboja

The 16th century "Ain-i-Akbari" has also mentioned the name of the caste as "Kambah-Kamboh" and not Kamboj. Interestingly, Ain-i-Akbari records Kambohs as a dominant caste in one of the parganas of Southern Kashmir. Ain-i-Akbari doesn't mention "Arains" (It does mention all other main tribes/clans like Jutt, Rajput, Gujjar, Awan etc, though)

Also, more than half of the Punjabi Muslim Kamboh population was living in just 3 districts of central Punjab: Lahore, Ferozpur and Amritsar during the colonial era.

And the Arains outnumbered Kambohs 8 to 1 as per the official colonial census. It's highly unlikely that all Arains are related to Kambohs.

You assumed too much about me because you believe in stereotypes hence the outright hatred for 10 million Lahoris.

And I am not going to explain about Punjabi nationalism to someone who love believe his own stereotypes.

Ubalta Punjab: How top state fell to 16th position & why Punjabis are forever furious?

.
Arains are mostly based central to lower Punjab whilst Gujjars are mostly upper and central Punjab and Jatts are center mostly.
Majhi teth Punjabi is also known as the original Punjabi is spoken around Gujrat and its adjoining districts. Some even speak it in Bhimber AJK. We are a proud people group we let other ethnicities in because we look at them as Pakistanis, not on ethnic lines.

Indian Punjab is suffering due to the constant invasion from Hindus from UP and other poor states for work but the Punjabis don't like that this in turn has caused Indian Punjab to kind of drift off from India now setting up its own ecosystem kind of thing. And this is exaggerated by the countless violence that the central state has committed.
