Yes. Now it is the fight between F18 and Rafale. Both can carry atleast 2 to 3 times the payload than Chinese J 15. F18 will have to work very hard to compete with Rafale which has an upper edge because of superior EW and BVR.

Did the F-18 landed yet? As for the payload, you can't compare things on paper. When the Rafale or the F-18 takes off from same jump-jet type carrier, how much will they take?

Will be good for India to go with the US/France/West, since Russia is a sinking ship anyway. This deal if signed will only deepen US and India's ties even more. Now that there's heavy embargoes imposed on Russia it will be increasingly difficult to signed sophisticated weapon import deals from Russia . So best to maintain neutral relation with Russia
