What's new

Indian military's officer crisis- RESEARCH

And this is what's being addressed. The capacity a IMA, NDA and officer training school is being increased significantly. Of course this is a very long-term solution so don't expect concrete results for atleast a decade.

If we are going to wake up only , every time when Crisis knocks at our door .....!

A time will certainly come when we will be caught in " a state with pants down ...." ( don't take me literally ...lol )

.
Isn't that pathetic then ....If we can treat hundres of Afghan officers ...why we are training only 600 officers annually ....

For a country of 1.2 billion people with 4'th largest army in the world ....600 officers annually seems rather pathetic number to me !!!

This is half of what PMA trains 300-320 per long course.

BTW you guys are missing the details about the IAF and IN as well. IAF has a record number of suicides in 2000-09

.
man engineers have the benefit ,,,they don't need to do post graduation.........................doctors are truly fucked in postgrduation,,,see the numbers i posted in post 31

u got to come and see to believe it.....seriously

what do u expect when u pay a pg 40,000 a month??:omghaha:

Been there ....done that !

I was kicked out of a great public hospital ....despite working without a single rupee for 6 months( I am not kidding )

That was the point I left India....with determination that I will come back when I will be something ...but will not work in public institute ...it will be either NGO or my own charity institute or something like WHO/UNICEF .....

I'm no expert on this as, as much as my mother tried to push me, I don't aspire to be a doctor, but isn't the system in India that Indian doctors have to pay for their postings as pool see to the rest of the world where they are paid. I think Dr Devi Shetty articulated this.

But I don't think the situation is as dire as there being a "non-existent" healthcare system in India:

India is the place to be, say home-bound doctors - TOI Mobile | The Times of India Mobile Site

Also AFAIK there are plans for a universal healthcare system in India by 2020-22.

IN has opened it's state of the art officer training academy that has signifcantly increased academy, the IAF is doing the same.

The point about suicdes is a very different discussion.

On Every six months more than 200,000+ apply for '300' vacancies for officers. But I feel now they have already/or increasing seats.

Please, I would like for you to refer to the article again, the IMA grads alone cannot run an army you need a good corps of engineers, docs and countless others in supportive roles to run a modern military and it's the suffrage there that's causing a steady decline.

Secondly, it's not that the thousands don't apply it's what becomes of those 600 few selected, the end product is not delivering.

IN has opened it's state of the art officer training academy that has signifcantly increased academy, the IAF is doing the same.

I think we should discuss the phenomena holistically, don't you?

You know man, we have increased our troops from 8 lakhs in late 70s to 12 lakhs now but Didn't address this problem. Hopefully we'll fill the gap in long run.

Capacity is being increased across the board.

Wrt the Indian officers "not delivering" this is a pretty unfounded allegation that doesn't seem to be anything more than personal opinion. No facts indicate this.

You are either kidding or dreaming ?

How much I wish you were correct ....

India has no Public health care system ! that is not just a statement ....but a fact !

We always have lots of plans right ....what do we do with those plans .....

we simply make plans only to trash them ....then we move to make grand new plans ....to be replaced by much more grand set of plans !!!

I can vouch for the fact that compared to the vacancies available...............number of ppl applying are just many times that

and this is not just limited to army,,,all the sections of society have same problem

100000000% agreement

is it same scenario in pakistan too dude,,,,seriously
