Indian military's officer crisis- RESEARCH

Please, this is a multi-decade long solution so short term economic issues are utterly irrelevant. The policies to address it were put in place before this current economic climate (18 months back) and will long outlive this current economic issue.

I think I read somewhere that for every place at IMA there are 200,000+ applicants.

We have not increased seat intake in our colleges for decades altogether!!!

every year 5 lakh ppl apply for iit's.................just 6-7000 make it:omghaha:

As for post graduation in medicine 1 lakh ppl apply and 10,000 clear

I agree about that ...it may not have long term impact ...

But our inaction and ability to let things get out of control is well known ....

Most of the things are left to happen " Ram-bharose ...." ( At least that's how I feel it ....now I may be totally ignorant ...but that's how an outsider like me sense based on things happening )

If we had some sense of planning then we won't be in current situation in first place !

Do you have any idea ....despite such a high demand ....what crisis our health care system is facing ?

To tell you the fact....we have no health care system left .....

Being Doctor and having worked in India and other countries ....you can trust my judgment at least about our health care system !!!

I don't think it is tough when compared to other militaries, Screambowl, it seems that the people who apply are not sufficient.

a friend of mine gave the exam after school, he could not clear it, although its not tough as compared to other entrance exam for engineering but has weight and now he is in oracle. And those who clear it cannot clear the physical because it is a week long physical exam. And after 12th many are not in condition to run 7 km in 30 mins.

. .
On Every six months more than 200,000+ apply for '300' vacancies for officers. But I feel now they have already/or increasing seats.
@Abingdonboy

If that is the case then can you explain why we have such a perennial shortage of an officers ?

its fucked up here man,,,don't even ask

just to clarify..... when I said " as outsider" ....I meant outsider to Indian military .....not outsider to India ...ok !
Even if I am in Singapore ....I have India inside me !!!

Because IMA can train only '600' annualy.

Isn't that pathetic then ....If we can treat hundres of Afghan officers ...why we are training only 600 officers annually ....

For a country of 1.2 billion people with 4'th largest army in the world ....600 officers annually seems rather pathetic number to me !!!

man engineers have the benefit ,,,they don't need to do post graduation.........................doctors are truly fucked in postgrduation,,,see the numbers i posted in post 31

so what is your opinion about our " non existent " public health care system ....?

u got to come and see to believe it.....seriously

what do u expect when u pay a pg 40,000 a month??:omghaha:

May be you are correct ...but then 10,000 solid applicants for 1 vacancy sounds rather exaggeration !

I know several doctors who have left AFMC ....despite having had to pay hefty bond penalty ....

Many of them going for greener pastures like US,UK, Australia.....even Singapore .

Are you studying for medicine ?

There's a similar situation here in Pakistan, I agree with your 'janoon' comment, that passion for military life and Spartan surroundings is fading. It's something that perhaps only a South Asian can understand.

And thats my point. We have increased our troops size from 8 lakh to 12 lakh but didn't increase intake of officers in IMA. But probably they are doing this now.
