Rafael is increasing its activity in the Indian market: the company has signed a memorandum of understanding that will lead to the establishment of a joint venture with the Indian company Mahindra, which also deals in defense production. The memorandum of understanding was signed during DEFEXPO 2012, a large defense exhibition in India that concluded at the start of the week.

India will equip its main battle tank Arjun with the Israeli LAHAT laser-guided missile

India is equipping its Arjun main battle tanks with the LAHAT missile produced by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). The missile will provide the tank with the ability to hit moving targets from great distances while in motion.

I read this news a few days back but i didn't posted it because its a little bit conflicting news...

These are the poster from IMI stand during defexpo 2012....According to this Arjun mk2 will comes with Iron Fist APS and WAVE-300 RCWS.

I think a website can make a mistake but i doubt a company will lie about the use of its products in a particular weapon platform. I mean who would you believe IMI or this website ???

In short this news of use Trophy APS on Arjun mk2 is most likely false .

IMI is surely blacklisted but the work on arjun mk2 has been going on for more two years. This blacklisting will npt effect the projects thats going on. There's however a slight possibility that CVRDE would have selected Iron fist but haven't purchased it yet or signed a deal with IMI, so it might end up as a future procurement which will be barred by MOD but if that was the case then IMI would have taken down these posters during Defexpo 2012.

.
Trophy or Iron Fist-doesn't matter but the turret of Arjun MkI bears many 'weak points' (inevitable for the 1st mbt) and has to be redesigned ASAP.Otherwise Arjun MkII will never become one of the best.

. . . .
^^^
Yeah there was a project on APS but whether it was abandoned or still progressing nobody knows. Anyways if its still going on, then most probably its going to be part of FMBT.

dude all these products from israle including the tavor rifles were under the brand of IWI (Israel Weapon Industries) and not IMI (Israel Military Industries).SO I THINK THEY FOUND THE WAY AROUND THE BAN.

We shouldn't forget that this was not a show to present new procurements of Indian armed forces, but where defence companies present "possible" new equipment that could be used in Indian or other armed forces. IMI as well as Rafael therefor are presenting both possible systems that could be added to Arjun MK2 and I wouldn't be surprised if some European systems are on offer as well. Wasn't a system of Saab selected for T90s, so wouldn't be the same for Arjun not the more logical choice?

.
What happened to Indigenous APS which was in development???
Even USA doesn't have an equivalent of Trophy APS.
Given that IMI is blacklisted and and the funding of Iron Fist was stopped obviously in favour of Trophy, it should be the logical choice.:taz:

Interesting:

War on Two Fronts

Avi Felder, CEO of Israel Military Industries (IMI), is leading his company towards privatization. At the same time he is putting all his focus on winning the tender between IMI and Rafael for active defense systems...

...The Ministry of Defense recently decided to combine Rafael’s Trophy with the Iron Fist’s interceptor system and gave Rafael sole supervision over the project. Did you agree to this?

“The Ministry wants to fuse the systems, but IMI continues to develop its own system. The Ministry will decide which system it wants to mount on additional Merkava IV tanks and Merkava (Namer) APCs in
April or May this year, and a tender will be issued then...

Maybe we should wait and see what the Israeli government decides and then go for the same solution.

I too have heard that Iron Fist was the APS for Arjun Mk.II for some time along with the Wave RCWS. It is possible this has been mis-reported and and Rafael are offering an alternative to Iron Fist should IMI run into issues with integration (unlikely though as this has been going on for some time).

Both are excellant APS though so I'm not really too concerned which one gets it- then all IA tanks will eventually have an APS-Arjun Mk.1 will have whatever Mk.II APS is selected at a later date and T-72 and T-90 UPGs will have SAAB LEDS APS.
