?Kashmiri detainee not being presented before court? | Kashmir Media Service
Srinagar, March 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a resident of Kupwara, Muhammad Yousaf Lone, who was arrested thirteen years ago is not being presented before court, putting his family members and close relatives in mental disarray.

Yousaf Lone, son of Habibullah was arrested by Indian troops during a raid in 1996 and had been kept in different Indian jails since.

Family members of Yousaf Lone said that he was tortured in jails due to which he lost 50 percent of his eyesight. They told newsmen that the occupation authorities were using delaying tactics and were not presenting the detainees before the court.

They further said that according to ruling of the Indian Supreme Court the administration was bound to keep the detainees at their ancestral districts so that they could easily be presented in the courts but Yousaf was kept in different jails of India for last 13 years.

They also said that proper medical treatment was not being provided to him in the jail and his health was deteriorating with every passing day.

It may be mentioned here that Hafizullah Lone, brother of detained Muhammad Yousaf, was killed by Indian troops in a fake encounter in 1996.

If you are providing articles from Kashmiri Media Service, you will never run out of new subjects for threads.....

A highly biased source, supported by people from Pakistan.

The same can be said about Indian Sources but do you Indian ever stop posting anti pakistani articles and anti ISI which are usually written by Indian Authors?

so r u xpecting that we should listen to Indian Media? not intended .:toast_sign:

As usual the Indians claim that the Pakistani sources are biased and the Pakistanis will say the Indian sources are biased ,

maybe if this news can be backed by a Neutral source that we can have a proper debate on it , instead of blind nationalism

You know it very well . It is not the first case of its kind. There are hundreds of such cases where Kashmiri youth have been arrested without any charges and hundreds are still missing who either been killed or imprisoned by Indian Army in Indian Held Kashmir.

The fake encounter and missing Kashmiri youth stories are even reported by Indian media.
By rubishing such news because that comes from Kashmir Media service is just an excuse you can google and find such more cases reported by international media and bodies.

Bull Sh!t story. How can one be kept in jails without going to court for 15 years?. To keep a suspect in jail they have to have orders from court. Even in the cases of most notorious criminals like 'Abu Salem' are dealt legally.

Complete BS.

They have to release the arrested if the charge-sheet is not completed OR no advocate is given OR no case is submitted within 90 days.

No advocate was ready to take the case of Kasab. But the had to do it, otherwise, even Kasab would have been freed.

Yes, they killed the brother in a fake encounter but no amount of bullets could kill this guy, such was his dedication to the cause :)

huh!

They could not even keep this guy in that long, he's released on legal technicalities. Shame.

When we quote Indian sources, we make it clear that they REALLY ARE indian sources. And when I post Indian articles, I make it clear as what author, what newspaper.

If you want to post Pakistani articles, post them with author's name, make it clear that it is Pakistani. You are hiding behind name of Kashmiri's, claiming that its a Kashimiri source. I have seen several members claim that this particular source is Kashmiri.

Right. Some members claim that it is run by people who fled Kashmir due to Indian 'atrocities'. They treat it as a 'neutral' source

Patronized / funded by the other party in the conflict, hardly a neutral source.

In any case, the particular news item looks suspect and / or incomplete irrespective of the source. if its true, i do not know what stops the guy from going to supreme court and tell them the govt is not following supreme court guide lines. india justice system has its checks and balances, i don't think its failed in this case unless all the options were exhausted.

Please try posting news from neutral source or backup news from these sites with neutral source. Other wise it is worthless to debate and it turns into just a blaming game. These kinds of posts leads to no where.

But having said that Indian police have brutal history of torturing inocent people and fake encounters aginst Muslims, Sikhs and to some extents to Hindus as well.

Absolutely. Police reform is a MUST if india has to become a progressive / developed nation. Actually its a challenge for all developing countries - how to make police act like human beings and yet be effective. half of india's population is not empowered, they have little chance in today's police system to get justice.

I'm interested in finding out if its in the agenda of any political parties this election.

Sorry for the off topic post, oh no its on topic, the post is abt justice in india :)
