?Kashmiri detainee not being presented before court? | Kashmir Media Service
Srinagar, March 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a resident of Kupwara, Muhammad Yousaf Lone, who was arrested thirteen years ago is not being presented before court, putting his family members and close relatives in mental disarray.
Yousaf Lone, son of Habibullah was arrested by Indian troops during a raid in 1996 and had been kept in different Indian jails since.
Family members of Yousaf Lone said that he was tortured in jails due to which he lost 50 percent of his eyesight. They told newsmen that the occupation authorities were using delaying tactics and were not presenting the detainees before the court.
They further said that according to ruling of the Indian Supreme Court the administration was bound to keep the detainees at their ancestral districts so that they could easily be presented in the courts but Yousaf was kept in different jails of India for last 13 years.
They also said that proper medical treatment was not being provided to him in the jail and his health was deteriorating with every passing day.
It may be mentioned here that Hafizullah Lone, brother of detained Muhammad Yousaf, was killed by Indian troops in a fake encounter in 1996.
