Its encouraging to know that sanity prevailed.

Patrols often stray across so do choppers. The last thing the sub continent needed was needless tension on another front.

Well done PA & both DGMOs.

Such incidents underscore the need for open lines of communication.

This was no mistake, Indian were testing for gaps in Pakistani radar coverage and got their A$$es handed to them. If they were flying from Leh to Bhimbet it is almost impossoble to end up where they did unless the pilot and the copilot were flying under the influence.

Having been in that region I can say with conviction that such errors can & do happen. Moreso at this time of the year when the weather is turning.

You meanwhile are entitled to your views. Even the foggiest military mind would not send such a machine with a crew of four to test Air Defences.

Lastly testing air defences would I expect be an AF responsibility not an Army one.

Since Pakistan is giving India MFN status I see no problem in returning the asset and soldiers back as sign of good will

Probably the helicopter could not land on hills so it opted to land on Pakistani territory

Why so angry? If it was a Pakistani heli the first post would be blaming us of transporting terrorists.... Its not a big victory or anything just standard procedures..... But making such small things a huge deal is what we learned from you Indians....

So chill and thanks us that we let your heli go....

no doubt, that was during "Kargil".. believe me, during those times, even the Indian helo would have been shot down... no questions asked...

and that was 12 years ago.. today, all said and done, relations are in a better state. and today no force will shoot down other's aircraft just like that..

and then finally, Thank U pakistan for showing sanity and sensibility.. We never know, had they shown some knee-jerk reaction, it could have snowballed into something real serious....

so there's nothing wrong in thanking pakistan where they have done a good work and they deserve it... small steps like these go on to improve the relations...

In my point of view now it is useless to continue discussion after Pakistan sent back helicopter, although now point is important "How Helicopter entered more than 20 Km in Pakistani air space undetected and where were air defense system and PAF?", "Why they couldn't detect it within 5 Km range or less on LOC inside Pakistani airspace?" It means in any bad weather condition if they mobilized division/Brigade of Army/Air force through any area along whole border, Pakistan could not detect them until 20 - 25 Km area will not fall under Indian control?

You people make it so difficult to find what really has happened!

stick to topic. why bring verbal war in each and every thread?

The meaning true meaning of MFN nation is that such incidents are handled with the mind set of a MFN nation

Just let the Colonel , eat dinner with Our people , and enjoy our hospitality and find a way to fix the problem or transport the helicopter over via train/truck and allow Indian helicopter to come and get the visitors back

Its really not a issue - and we need to really move in such direction specially if our Gov is planning to offer MFN status

The point is I don't think the Helicopters were armed and there was no malicious attempt

even the situation is handled peacfully and appreciated by majority of members, yet some members are curious to know the real cause of entering Indian chopper in to Pakistan space, Only army officail can put light on it.Some are also arguing that it took much time to intercept after 20km.
Well,First thing, there is no border tension with India right now that does not permitt to to see and shoot intruder.Secondly, 20 km is covered with in 5-6 min by helicopter. So just assume,PA detect, try to send messages to chpper via general frecuency.Manage to intercept, send assets to stop intruder and forced it to land.Dont you think, in peace time, it is reasonable time to perform all this action against a non attack chopper.
It was quite right ation from PA,we must appreciate it not only for action but also for strategy to release chopper.
Thanks to Pakistan Army.

A very good gesture by Pakistan. Hope India can not only return this favor but build on this to de-strain ties.
