What's new

Indian army to upgrade infantry weapons (New Assault Rifle)

Wat happened to INSAS? Or is this another case of IA saying its not capable enough? Feel sad for you guys now

Why are you feeling sad? It's being replaced with one of the best out there.

India just simply doesnt have the capability nor the infrastructure to make weapons, plain & simple

Like what? It has made many, like ICBMs, nuke subs, attack helicopters, tanks, SAMS, etc, etc, etc. Do you mean small arms?

In small arms they've made couple. All of them being branched off of the original INSAS.

But if they go for overseas ones what can you do?

In small arms they've made couple.

ICBMs - Wasnt even a ICBM as it didnt have the range
Nuke subs - Russian subs that RUSSIA made, not India
Attack heli - Again copy of a Russian heli
Tanks - Arjun? That thing isnt even capable to withstand one round
SAM - Akash? The one that failed to hit a target 2/3 times?

And India's small arms are just refurbished Klashnikovs... Hahahaha....

That Agni is ICBM technology. That range set up by westerners doesn't pertinent to India. Why would India want to hit Australia for?

Nuke subs - Russian subs that RUSSIA made, not India

Nope, made in India, get over it.

Attack heli - Again copy of a Russian heli

Are you stuck in 2005? I remember when people were saying that. It looks nothing like that heli.

Arjun is much much better then any Pakistani tank and our scientist made it in India its not just a paint job on Chinese tank with Ukrainian engine

SAM -- AKASH is only one category, also developed within India, I think you forget recent test of AAD missile?

Prove that LCH is russian copy ???

Very good, good. You follow every other westerner's rule on military equipments but not ICBM... Agni-V fall short of the range needed to be a ICBM as recognized INTERNATIONALLY.

Russian nuke sub made in India? A fortune cookie made in USA is still called Chinese as such as a curry made in UK is still called Indian, you get?

The Khalid tank has much better specs than Arjun and has withstanded all rounds... Unlike the Arjun, the Khalid has been mass produced becuase it was capable enough for the PA unlike the Arjun. Who cares if its a copy as Pakistan has never bragged on that as India has, and has never been caught with its pants down lying about indigenous military equipment, you get?

Actually its not their problem ... nowadays mainly they are dependent on Chinese weapons and as we all know all Chinese weapons are russian origin ;)

about 250 Arjun already inducted in IA and production of MK2 version is about to start with almost 100 modifications

still we are not dependent on Chinese .... Pahle vo bana le phir ham use copy kar lenge

This simply is NOT true.

But mate, when compared to these:

The INSAS are good but they aren't great. The IA is looking beyond what the OFB is currently able to deliver. It is a COLOSSAL shame but it is what it is.

I don't mind this, but I just want a company in the private sector to get to manufacture the rifle too. More competition for OFB the better. Some actively in the private sector will only help India in the future.

Agreed- a pvt player getting the TOT and licesing rghts is what India should aim to do- this would pretty much ensure that by the time the IA hunts for its next rifle in 20-30 years there will be a credible Indian offer on the table.

Please tell me that the INSAS rifles do not look like refurbished AKs?
