INDIAN ARMY CHIEF The War Mongerer!

For starters, instead of blaming & creating anti-Pakistan hysteria from the get-go your politicians should have waited to conduct an in-house investigation. Then they should have 'requested' Pakistan instead of 'threatening' it to take action.

I agree with part somewhat but India did "requested" those terrorist organizations to banned and hand over wanted criminals. Nothing happedned.

If this incident could have been used to build stronger bridge of trust & cooperation between India and Pakistan instead of out rightly blaming Pakistan, it would have been a different scenario by now.

Agree with this part, GOI should of handled the situation differently.

Remember, it was NOT Pakistan Army soldiers who invaded Mumbai or Al-Khalid Tanks rolled down like Iraqi's did in Kuwait! At the end of the day what happened in Mumbai is no more than a heinous crime by bunch of misguided criminals. If one of those criminals is proved to be from Pakistan then there are diplomatic and legal ways to conduct an investigation of this crime.

GOP didn't even recognized that terrorists were Pakistanies. Ajmal's father and his village was shown on TV but GOP banned all repoters to that village and denied he was even Pakistani. I dont think you can build trust like that. You have said the India should of have used different approach but same thing could be said for Pakistan too. GOP knew they were Pakistanies and they should of came out clean addmited that.

For us Pakistani's the Indian 'holier-than-thou' attitude is not acceptable in a situation where this unfortunate incident is turned into a Pakistan-bashing excercise by your politicians and largely ignorant media!

Rememer India has only said that All options are on the table and terrorists came from Pakistan. Rest of the stuff was created by media on both side. "Surgcal strike" stuff was created by Indian media and stating that terrorists were SIKHS or hardline HINDUS was done by Pakistani media and self proclaimed DEFENCE ANALYSIST Zaid Hamid.

Pakistan calls India army chief's comments 'most unfortunate'

Updated at: 2303 PST, Wednesday, January 14, 2009
Pakistan calls India army chief ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday chided India for continuing to "ratchet up tensions" in the wake of the Mumbai attacks, calling its army chief's remark that all options were open "most unfortunate."

The statement from the foreign ministry in Islamabad was the latest in a series of tit-for-tat accusations between the neighbours in the six weeks since the attacks in Mumbai, which killed 174 people including nine of the gunmen.

India's army chief General Deepak Kapoor said earlier Wednesday that while he regarded war as a "last resort," the current situation meant that "we in India are keeping all our options open and that must be clearly understood."

Pakistani foreign ministry spokesman Mohammad Sadiq responded by saying "these statements are most unfortunate." "Pakistan continues to make every effort to defuse tensions in South Asia and has repeatedly stated that it is prepared to extend its cooperation to the Indian government concerning the Mumbai incident," the spokesman said.

Sadiq said Islamabad regretted that India "continues to ratchet up tensions, which is certainly not helpful to the cause of peace, security and stability of the region and in the overall efforts in countering terrorism." "Indulging in the blame game is counterproductive," he said.

When your country has been attacked by terrorists and they are hiding in other coutry, what do you expect India is going to do?

India will try everything in its power to get them, weather it economic, diplomatic or ever militaty as last resort. Even for just the sake of putting pressure on other country to act against the terrotists.
For sake of this arrgument lets say India say we wont use force. This take pressure of Pakistan to act because world would not care about India's claims. You know how you guys say that Pakistan's nuclear program is deterent againt India's conventional edge against Pakistan. This "last resort option" is a way to force the world to put pressure against pakistan.

India wants to do everything but talk or conduct joint investigations. This is the issue for us Pakistanis. When the attacks happened, there was no one in Pakistan who did not feel bad about the loss of innocent lives in Mumbai. Over a period of time, the jingoistic talk and arrogance of not taking Pakistani responses into consideration started coming to fore which hardened the Pakistani public and government opinion. Now the problem for India is face saving.

The British Foreign Secretary's clear cut statement that "Pakistani state is not involved" is a result of the Indian government pushing too hard on this path of blaming the GoP without any evidence. Yes Pakistan should apprehend people who are behind it, however you cannot expect Pakistan to do everything that you ask while asking it in the threatening manner that you have. The solution here is to tone down the tensions, keep Americans involved, get the GoP to deal with this issue with evidence and stay engaged. The facts that Cricket tour is canceled, public interaction (track II) is curtailed, public opinion is whipped up into a state of frenzy is all resulting in leaving no venue open for India to talk to Pakistan and make adjustments (back off, give the other side a chance to deflect criticism at home, take action etc.).

If you have ever looked at the history of Pakistan-India relations, you will realize that these two countries have never got what they have wanted by threatening each other. If anything has happened, its because someone else has been able to mediate. This is the way forward. India can repeat the deployment of 2002 and nothing will come of it. I would completely agree that attacks of the nature of Mumbai are wrong and curse the people who have carried out these attacks that have led to such problems for Pakistan, but pushing our backs against the walls by threatening us will not yield anything.

The problem Hindustan is deliberately trying to put pressure through blackmail IE War in this case with Pakistan it will simply not work, I will keep on saying this countless of times because of the Nuclear weapons both countries possess it will cause immense damage between both countries so if Hindustan is thinking of embarking on a picnic it can simply forget that.

As for the evidence Pakistan has repeatedly insisted that a joint investigation be held to get to the bottom of this but sadly Hindustan has other ideas running around to other countries begging to declare Pakistan a terrorist state and telling others to stop selling weapons is this a way of making peace with Pakistan give me a break.

Furthermore you seem to be too obsessed with Zaid Hamid or is it because whatever he says hits you too hard we don't go bragging around about what Bharat Verma and co say about Pakistan.

I simply do not understand why Pakistan is tolerating such insults or vilifications day after day since the Mumbai incident. No country perhaps shows such tolerance the way Pakistan is showing. India even before finishing its commando operation during the Mumbai incident started accusing Pakistan. Without starting the investigation and much before even when the operation itself was yet to be finished, india had begun throwing insulting stones to the Pakistani side. Pranab Mukherjee started labeling false charges on Pakistan and crying before all the countries of the world to gain sympathy and support. One Pakistani Islamic well-fare organization got banned by the UN as india persuaded the big boss America to fulfill india's childish demand.

indian media is continuously making BRAINWASHED Mindset to stall public opinion and national conscience. Enough damage has been done to the image of Pakistan worldwide due to the systematic psychological campaign by indian media. Now it is very clear that as it was Taj Hotel and one major shareholder of the Taj is Ratan Tata who is now a good friend of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi (infamous for his genocide on Muslims) has invested a large amount of money after being influenced by Narendra Modi before the Parliamentarian election, in the indian media to spread the anti-Pakistani propaganda. Narendra Modi was also associated with the culprits who bombed Samjhuta express. Thus, as an affected shareholder of the Taj, Ratan Tata came to be influenced by Narendra Modi, and Ratan Tata tried to recover the loss by using media, as he invested, and Modi also persuaded Tata to invest so that media's attention to Malegaon Blast would be diverted and also his eletoral campaign before the election would be half done by one strike. Such kautilyan chankyan strategy can be deployed but communists are not so stupid, because much more difficult and complex phenomena we study, when we study Marx-Engels and Mao and it is therefore nothing.

But the question is why Pakistan lets her image be maligned in a cheaper way. Akhir kiyun aisi zillat se jina? Everybody is taking Pakistan as weak after Pakistan's tolerance to india's constant empty threats... Pakistan has shown enough tolerance, now she must teach a good lesson to the jingoist india. In 1971, india showed deliberate adventurism and cut off Pakistan's one hand, Pakistan showed tolerance, then india started building dams on rivers like Chenab, blocking the natural flow of water to Pakistan, Pakistan again showed tolerance.... I just do not get what this kind of Gandhigiri for...

Mitchell Shivers, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Asian & Pacific Security Affairs, gave the following testimony to the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee on 25 June 2008: ".... elements of extremism and terrorism are at work within Pakistan sponsored by the usa and India." ( Pakistan The Next US Target )."

Since the United States admits it sponsors extremist and terrorist groups in Pakistan, why is the Indian army chief talking of fighting Pakistan rather than fighting the United States?

If Indian army is ready for war than why are you telling the entire world. Lets demonstrate what capabilities you have.

^I think that putting pressure on Pakistan is the only thing that will work, and the only thing which has worked.

Pakistan sees no advantage in digging up the dirt and exposing the terrorist network, which was created and nurtured by it in the first place.

If India agrees to a joint investigation, it will simply mean that Pakistan can pull the wool over the eyes of the world by appearing to cooperate, but in reality, doing quite the opposite.

One cant compare the poletical power of pakistan army cheif and Indian army cheif. He is the unknown person to all the citizens. ppl merely might know his name..tats all...but in pak army cheif is a next to president or above...
He should take the govt permission to call a press.

Are We Battle Ready: Submarine repair takes forever

CHIEF SPEAK: Admiral Suresh Mehta says that we need to build our in house capacities to repair subs.

New Delhi: Over-emphasis on indigenous work is hurting India's readiness for war.

As India's vital submarine arm struggles with dangerously low numbers, a top-end submarine has been taken out of the fleet for a repair programme.

The shocking part is that the repair schedule will last 10 years. Such upgrades have previously been done overseas in two years. One could compare this to a submarine being laid comatose, at least in the case of the INS Sindhukirti, a frontline Kilo class attack submarine of the Indian Navy.

It's been in dry dock at Vizag for a refit programme for close to five years now. It seems that Hindustan Shipyards, the government-owned contractor with little experience in submarine upgrades, will take at least another five years before the submarine can be put to water again.

Unavailable to the submarine-starved Navy for 10 of the 30 years of its useful life, the Sindhukirti is as good as a write off.

"How viable is a surgery which requires a healthy patient to be in a hospital bed for one-third of his life? That is the approximate analogy for the mid-life upgrade for this submarine INS Sindhukirti, the Dry Dock Queen. Four submarines are stuck in such protracted upgrades. Not surprisingly, just nobody is accountable," said our defence correspondent.

Russia took just two years each to upgrade six similar Kilo class submarines for the Indian Navy.

The government insists that it is now building national capability with inhouse upgrades.

"That kind of expertise did not exist in India before and this is for the first time that we are trying it out here. Instead of sending them to Russia all the way, this one is being offloaded to Hindustan Shipyards. There are some problems in their procurement procedures. It takes a little longer than is expected," said Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Suresh Mehta.

What this trade-off on time does to India's military readiness is anybody's guess. It took a recent CAG report to blow the lid of the Indian Navy's worst kept secret: that the vital submarine arm faces a crisis of numbers.

The shocking revelations of the report were:

Only seven of India's 16 submarines are available for combat at any time.

10 of these 16 ageing submarines will be due for phase-out by 2012.

To maintain current numbers, one submarine needs to be inducted every two years but there's been no addition since 2001.

India's only submarine-making facility in Mumbai was kept idle for 12 years.

The gaping hole in India's naval capability is showing.

Indian culture seriously reveals traits of being drama queens seriously is acting taught in kindergarten or nursery level.

Is this kind of stuff encouraged in the Indian Army I don't see Pak army officials going around giving press conferences is this to gain cheap popularity even after David Milliband gave a press conference saying that Pakistani state was not involved which was a courageous act within itself since he was in India at that time let us hope his figurines are not being torched on Indian streets at the moment.

Well i don't think General ZIA,Ayub Khan,Mushraff where all the faithful followers of constitution never comming infront of camera.!!!! Cheap publicity BS... Its our army day on 15th January and Army chief is bound to address the nation and reporters..and its his duty to reassure our people that our army is ready..!!! Just as Keyani said we would strike within minutes of aggression..!!!! So don't give crap, like india is war monger or something, if people don't accept the reality, india cannot rule out the possiblity of confrontation and let the pereptrators of Mumbai go scott free..!!! You only see what you want to see, that is economic diplomatic and last resort is military..!!!! And india have never cancelled their leave of officers its your country which did that and moved the troops to FATA. If this enthusiasm is shown in rooting down the anti-india terrorists there wouldnt have been no cause for india to complain and EXPLORE ALL OPTIONS.

i think now the Indian politicians are tired of howling, so its Indian army's turn.
there is a famous urdu proverb.

"Ju Garajtay hian woh barastay nahi"

Also it was a bad effort from india to convert the world's attention from Israeli brutalities in gaza
