You know Dragon, it used to be said that all workers want to be the boss and in that way change things for themselves -- UN as it is set up will never do that for any other than the P5 -- so instead of complaining, we should work to set up an organization through which we may influence events. It does not have to replace the UN, it has to serve as a forum where in the changing realities of our world can find expression and that expression allowed to influence events.

Actually, does it ?? It's one thing to setup an underground detonation and it's a completely different thing to have a reliable working bomb. In an underground, controlled test you have unlimited chances to get fission started. In a bomb, you only have one chance.

And let's assume you have a working bomb and it does achieve fission, how big is it?? You certainly are not gonna penetrate Chinese air space with an Enola Gay and the Chinese government isn't gonna give you time to "set-up" in Beijing/Shanghai??

By the way, in underground test, no one is seating down there pushing the button. At least my understanding is that you lower the bomb and remotely start the countdown. There is no lab down there. And India has like 3000-3500 KM range ballistic missile. Or atleast claims to have.

The requirements for miniaturizing a nuclear weapon to survive the forces put on it by orbit and re-entry is a lot different from lowering a big bulky thing very slowly on a wench.
