India vs. China – the elephant can not fly like the dragon unless winged

according to Vietnamese marching soliders photo posted by Vietnamese posters, they look much darker and have typical Southeastern Asian facial features.

I've seen about 20-30% of Vietnamese can be passed as Chinese, but the rest just stick out of the Chinese crowd.

So,I know there is the difference among vietnamese just like that between people speaking mandarin and cantonese respectively.

BTW, can India become a winged tiger?

The Chinese idiom "如虎添翼" means the tiger with a pair of wings.

Thanks buddy. :azn:

I am a HK Cantonese of Hakka descent. And I really don't like being associated with them, just because Guangdong is a Southern province.

BTW, do you look northern Chinese?

I think the northern Chinese phenotype is quite common among the Cantonese, especially among Hakka and Teochew.

Yes, Hakka originated from Northern China and moved down to the South. So genetically Hakka are closer to the Northern Han.

As for whether I look Northern or Southern Chinese, I couldn't judge for myself. Though I think due to being of Hakka descent I would probably lean more towards the Northern type.

Nice animal analogies

of course Vietnamese also worship dragons and they also celebrate Chinese new year which is coming very soon, their culture is saturated with Chinese elements.

no,we are not,we are Eastern Asians and they are Southeastern Asians.they look very different from us,much darker and shorter.
Vietnamese have nothing to do with Chinese

Populations change over time. The ancient Vietnamese who were offshoots from Chinese are long gone. They were killed off by today's Vietnamese, who bear a deep hatred of those "close to Han" Vietnamese. The struggle between them and the indigenous Vietnamese is a recurring theme in their history, just like the struggle between agricultural guan-nei and nomadic / semi-nomadic Mongolians and Manchurians guan-wai is a recurring theme for China.

By the 70's, the Vietnamese purged their country of ethnic Chinese related people, and the only ones left are the indigenous Vietnamese. This was one of the reasons for the 79 war.

They also have a lot of genetic background from white people mostly French and Americans who imposed themselves on Vietnamese girls during colonial occupation and the Vietnam War. Vietnamese is basically a mixed mullato race today like Brazil, no longer pure. That's why the younger generation especially are so anti-Chinese -- it's the historic recurring anti-China theme, together with racial impregnation by whites post-colonialism. Just look at their writing system to see how Westernized they actually are!

I've stated on this forum before, and I'll emphasize it again: China is not some kind of waste dump that anybody can "join" and we welcome everybody to join. More territory is always good. More population, especially different people, is not good. Not every Mongoloid people is Chinese or should be Chinese. Homogeneity is usually good. Heterogeneity is usually bad. Japanese, Korean, Okinawan and Outer Mongolian are assimilable. Vietnamese and Thai are generally not assimilable, except for the small percentage who could pass for Chinese, probably because they are Chinese descended in the first place.

I just know Viet people do not darker, maybe shorter but just looking good.
Huh? You have obviously never been outside of Tianjin in your life. I don't know why you look up to foreigners so much.

IMO 10% to 20% can pass as Cantonese. 1% to 5% can pass for other Southern Chinese. Very few can pass as Northern Chinese.

India has a lot of catching up to do, the magnitude of which is breathtaking to even get close to the Chinese juggernaut. Therein lies the opportunity for India, and, possibly, the benefit of learning from the experience of it’s giant neighbour. Provided there is action to backup all the learning and the political will to do so.

C'mon India, get movin'!! Bash on, regardless!

Cheers!

I don't think you read the article. Just read it please and then compare with India to see how big differences.

India’s prime minister announced that he was ashamed of the fact that India still has many malnourished children despite being fastest economies of the world.

Many more Indians have various deprivations, undernourished, unschooled, and medically uncared much, Prof. Sen pointed in a recent seminar at New Delhi.

Financial times quoted Kunal Kumar Kundu, senior economist at Roubini Global Economics in Delhi as saying that at the end of the day, it was all about attractiveness of the market. Remember, even Indian investors were now more prone to investing outside of India than they were within India, given the various issues they are facing – policy paralysis and corruption.

My personal opinion is schemes like Food security bill will definitely slow growth but will increase our livelihood of India's poor people. So
Though I am anticongress at heart but still i would support this bill as this bill will increase the rankings of social indicators like malnutrition, and health related indices. Growth will be achieved sooner or later but it should be even growth.

@Raptor: Difference between india and pakistan is this point only, that indian politicians like MMS acknowledge that problem exists in india like malnutrition and naxalism not like in pakistan where politicians and army are busy settling scores when there are bombs and killings of soldiers in tribal areas, or scores have died due to earthquake and floods.
Acknowledging a problem (instead of conspiracy theories) is a first step towards solving the problem.
