Government on Saturday expressed serious concern over the US equipping Pakistan army with modern weapons and asked Washington to ensure that they were not used against India.

"United States decision to provide sophisticated weapons (to Pakistan) is a matter of serious concern to India. The US should ensure that these weapons are not targeted against India," Defence Minister A K Antony told reporters here.

Noting that the issue had already been taken up with the US Defence Secretary during his visit to India recently, he said the American explanation that Pakistan army has to be strengthened to fight terrorist outfits like Al-Qaeda and Taliban in Afghanistan was not convincing to India.

Antony, who inaugurated a new building at the Coast Guard Station at Vizhinjam near here, said, "Our past experience is bitter" on this issue.

The Defence Minister said he told US Defence Secretary that even though they were providing equipment to fight terrorists, Pakistan army was deploying them on Jammu and Kashmir borders.

"This is a matter of concern to India and I hope that the US will take a serious note of this," Antony said.

He said while India preferred to carry on talks with Pakistan, Islamabad should take firm action to dismantle as many as 42 terrorist camps operating on its soil.

"Unless these terrorist camps are destroyed, it is a difficult situation. We want some action (by Pakistan) to dismantle these camps," he said.

Pakistan placed all these orders in 2005-2006 but indians did not had balls to raise any objection to the P.Musharraf and now when Pakistan is about to get the deliveries of old orders they suddenly woke up and start crying.

People try to understand its a diplomatic move..its natural with every country..even Pakistan also raise concern over selling of weapons to India..China had raised concern over potential selling of weapons to Taiwan by US and US raised concern over potential selling of S-300 to Iran by Russia..The statement like cry baby is absolute rubbish..its all part of diplomatic procedure..

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: India was not convinced with the US explanation that it was supplying sophisticated arms to Pakistan army to take on the Taliban and al-Qaida, Union defence minister A K Antony said on Saturday.

"The US decision to supply sophisticated arms to Pakistan is a matter of serious concern to us as the experience has been that these are used against India. I took it up with the US defence secretary when he was here. According to them, the fight against Taliban and al-Qaida is more important. But we are not convinced with this explanation as our experience has been bitter. We request the US government to ensure that these weapons are not used against India, but only deployed on the ****** border," Antony said after inaugurating the new office complex of the Coast Guard station at Vizhinjam.

Asked how the government planned to ensure that its proposed surrender policy for militants from across the border would not be misused, Antony said he was confident that there will be elaborate arrangements to ensure security of the country.

On the Indo-Pak talks, he said the decision to engage Pakistan was a "conscious one, and that it will continue.

He, however, regretted that Pakistan had made no serious effort to disband the 42 terror training camps that continue to function across the border.

In simple words, its We are given a bullet back for each that Pakistan fires for US's WOT.

I think India is concerned over night vision goggles. Otherwise what Pakistan has taken from US ?? Planes is what Pakistan buys and even if US gives something for so called "Free" then of course they have to reimburse Pakistan for what they did in 1990's contract of F-16s.

India simply wants Pakistan to end up utilizing all of its inventories in WOT with nothing left to face India.

Who the hell is India to dictate what weapons Pakistan can use against India?

India is a hostile nation to Pakistan and Pakistan will utilize whatever weapons it can get its hands on against India.

Right now we are going to use these weapons to take on the current menace of TTP and then turn them on India, its simple as that.

Anyone who thinks that Pakistan's new weapon purchases from USA are only for fighting the Taliban is living in a fool's paradise

i have noticed a pretty strange happening india with all its might & power CAN & is ALLOWED to BUY! without anyone stating that arming india can be a problem for its smaller negibours!

however, when pakistan which is much smaller in size acquires anything it becomes a matter of serious concern for INDIA!

the logic clearly alludes me! i think pakistan is not armed ENOUGH! we should be armed to the teeth just like taiwan inorder to maintain the so called strategic "balance"!!!!

You know when some Indians come and tell me they do not find Pakistan as a threat at all, I refuse to believe them. Till today, even after being armed to the teeth, they are still worried about a few F-16s when they have their Su-30MKI and soon their MRCA coming in. Well it seems like our minimal deterrence is working.


Imagine if we are armed just like India. They probably be screaming at the top of their lungs now.
