Congratulations! I didn't realize how far ahead India is in the list.

I cannot believe the tiny little South Korea has almost as many immigrants as China, lol. Don't know the reason why South Koreans would immigrate to U.S.

Average salary of Pakistanis applying for green cars is six figures?!

I was surprised too. Because as per US census, ethnicity wise Indian American household income was some 40% higher than Pakistani American household income.

@Okemos
From what I know, there was a huge backlog of non-US educated Indians on the green card queue and now they have merged the two queues for Indians (US educated and not) and are clearing the backlog.

Whoa- India is ahead by a serious margin! India has more than the next 11 nations combined, I had no idea the figures would look like this.

35 times population? No.

Pakistan is about 200 million, India is about 1.2 billion, so about six times. Not thirtyfive times.

That number is irrelevant. The main number is students and job visa holders in USA. That's the source pool for Green card application.

For example there were 104K Indian students in USA in 10-11 as against 5K from Pakistan. This would affect the H1 visa holder numbers too. Further, Indian IT companies have literally tens of thousands of Indians sent to USA for jobs. So the numbers are not all that skewed if one looks at the indicative numbers of relevant pool.

Besides, as explained in my previous post, Indian nos are indeed bumped up this year due to previous backlog.

That makes sense better.

I doubt the figures. nearly ten times of what Chinese are issued. More Chinese (or nearly equal) come to USA than Indians .
I checked some other list of green cards issued for 2011. It showed some 143446(Mexico), PRC(87000), India(69000).

usa is fast becoming another uk in trends of ethnic diversity. congrats!

Self delete. Not sure why such big jump.

Not sure if you know how difficult it is for Pakistanis to get citizenship/green card in the States. This is why the only few to get in are the ones who have very high salaries.

I acted as an interpreter (for only one session) for a recently married Pakistani man (the wife was India born, but US citizen) who was a already a Canadian citizen earning 100K+. He has been on hold for two years now.

If you really want the clearer picture, look at it like this - To compensate for the diminished chances of getting citizenship owing to the background, people show higher income. So while it is a little difficult for Indians to get in, they do earn a lot, and in large numbers. And not even 1% of them want to come back to India.

It is just extremely difficult for Pakistanis these days. Not as difficult for Muslims from other nations, specifically Pakistanis.

I hardly come across Chinese in USA. I am on the verge of submitting my papers on EB1.
