India to Go Undersea for Gas Transit from Qatar to India?

one thing is it would take huge investment as the distance from Qatar to india is too much ,may be myanmar or even iran option can be feasible.( or better word slightly more economical)

India is at the closest geographical location with any of the major customer of Iran, very close by sea route also. and with the current political equation, India would look on Iran as the main energy supplier, especially for Gas, which makes very less pollution as compare to oil and four wheelers like car/ bus etc can also run by gas reducing overall pollution level of cities, which is very cheap than petrol also

Hello,

In my view, the GOI is right for being cautious and tactically conservative in regards with a pipeline through war-torn Baluchistan. In case of a future engagement in that region, the severing of that said pipeline would be an area of contention and would result in unwanted demographic effects for the country.

The GOI is right for being cautious and conservative in that regard; however, I believe that for the short term, India can receive gas via naval shipments from Qatar to India; for long term interests, tho, it would benefit India to develop an underwater pipeline. Their navy already has an unprecedented presence in the Indian Ocean; any enemy threat to any of their underwater pipeline would be handled accordingly.

Either way, that's their government's decision to make.
