India should have annexed Bangladesh: Assam BJP MLA

The real problem is, indians overestimate themselves a lot.
And this foul remark from this MLA is just another big mouthing of India's capabilities .

Fortunately Indian leadership never ever thought about this option in 1971
Good comment, without this faulty understanding.
It isn't possible without the support of population and their leadership.
So that really does not matter if India wanted that or not in 1971 .

.
Don't listen to every noise religion makes.
Don't bring religion in politics and never play with it or get played. Trust and understanding is very important for coexisting.
Religion should be extremely personal.

People should carry liberal views, well educated, aware of global politics.
Stay away from using religion as political baits.

Can Muslim Bangladeshi accept India born Bengalis who believe in Hindu? Do you think racial unification is more important than religious difference?

North Korean and South Korea was seperated by different political ideology. And you and West Bengalis was seperated by religious difference.
That's why we don't allow spreading religion publicly in China. It will tear country apart.

It's desperate when different religious believer with same ethnicity killing each other.
china allowed spreading religion publicly in China. the policy of free religion exist a long time. all religions must promise they support chinese government . State Administration of Religious Affairs manage all religions.

Bold part: You are very correct on this historical truth that the afternoon rain damped the Nawab's gunpowder, but did not cause similar effects on the British side. By this, you can see how unplanned our people always have been!! The Battle of Plassey was fought on 23 June, 1757. June is always a rainy season, but the military officers in the Nawab camp did not see a probable rainfall and did not prepare a contingency plan.

They did not bring in any thick sheet covers to save the arms and powder. Was it because of the mistaken faith matter that God always sides with the Muslims? Anyway, this inability to provide shelter above against the rainfall caused Bengal and subsequently the entire Hindustan to lose its independence.
I would just like to add that while unpreparedness can cost u dearly, the major reason that gave the British an edge to conquer India was the lack of unity and the traitors from amongst us. The British constantly played the regional rulers against each other and even worse were the traitors...the likes of Mir Jafar and Mir Sadiq who willingly sold their ppl/nation just for their own financial benefits. Such traitorous scum is the worst and most dangerous element that can cause the downfall of even the greatest empires.

No, gun powder was deliberately left open by Mir Zafar so that it get damaged by rain.Mir Zafar also had bulk of the army under his command and he stood idle when the war was happening.

It had more to do with other factors than just religion.

Bengal was ruled by Muslim rulers before their defeat by the british (by pure luck - rain soaking Nawabs gun powder - while british got saved hiding in orchards)... at the Battle of Plassey.

Thus started the downfall of bengali muslim.

Opression, economic n social sowed resentment... Bengali muslims became peasants ruled by hindu landowners etc.
Where you have read this history. It was a Muslim general (though there were some Hindus but they helped economically) who sided with British. His name has become synonymous with treachery in Bengali language. Ask Bangladeshis about it.
About your second part, Bengali Hindus adopted the western education and was startedstarted Renessa while Muslims sided away. In fact it produced some great nobilities, who changed Bengal economically, religiously, politically. @Anubis I would like to get your views on this.

When it comes to subcontinental politics its really hard to differentiate..the recent comments by Bipin Rawat accusing BD of aiding a proxy war against India by Pak and China doesn't help doesn't help the Indian govt either.
I agree he should stop. If he has any concern let the GOI and babus handle it.

Just the Chittagong Hills and the area surrownding siliguri corridor should have been enough. We made a huge mistake in 1971.

BJP lawmaker: India should have annexed Bangladesh

Creation of Bangladesh was itself a great mistake. But that mistake could have been offset had Bangladesh been made a part of India, Dev told a local news channel

A India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Hojai, a district in the Indian state of Assam, Shiladitya Dev courted controversy yet again, calling the creation of Bangladesh a “great mistake” because of which Assam has been facing “Muslim influx” for decades and suggesting that India should have annexed the country after the 1971 liberation war, Times of India reported.

“Even as the erstwhile East Pakistan was liberated, a mistake committed by Indira Gandhi (then prime minister) and the then Congress government was not merging the newly-created Bangladesh with India. In fact, creation of Bangladesh was itself a great mistake. But that mistake could have been offset had Bangladesh been made a part of India,” Dev told a local news channel in Assam on Monday.

When contacted by Times of India, Dev stood by his statements. Attributing the “change” in the state’s demographic profile to the “migration” of Muslims from the neighbouring country, Dev said such a situation would not have arisen had Bangladesh never been created.

On January 3, a Muslim organisation in Assam lodged a report against Shiladitya Dev for saying the first draft of the state’s National Register of Citizens (NRC) contains the names of many illegal migrants from Bangladesh.

Why do you blame others for your own faults? Mir Zafar met the Nawab at some point during the first half of the war, but stayed quite a few km. away with his troops behind the Nawab's camp. With Mir Zafar's forces were the forces of General Yar Latif Khan, Jagatseth and other generals.

PDF is not a history class. But, we should not blame everything on Mir Zafar. I am happy to read that you have not blamed him for the rainfall from the sky. I blame the superstitious minds of Muslims of Bengal. I can still see it in larger degree among them. They were probably waiting for a divine intervention in Plassey that did not come about. Muslims are just like this.

They will eventually try to annex Bangladesh. already our country is being run by puppet strings going to certain foreign embassies.

Next, when our economic growth is too strong for them, they will try to attack and take over Bangladesh.

We as a nation should be prepared for such an eventuality.
