Chinese media is 100 times more credible and pertinent to world affairs than no name spam garbage coming from India. When Xinhui posts manufacturing index figures and quarterly GDP numbers stocks markets from London, Paris, Germany, Brazil, Japan to the Dow Jones shake with the news. Could that be said of India??? Nobody gives a rats *** on any news from India let alone the Dow or Nikkei jumping .0001%.

That is the sad fact among a plethora of facts that is the irrelevance of India.

The Indians like to bark and bark in the media like they are somehow equals of China but at the end of the day they are at the bottom 10 of world economies while China is in the top 3.

One thing to keep in mind pertaining more directly to this thread, China's economy is 4 times bigger than poor India thus as another fact has the second largest defense budget in the world, and more importantly has a military industrial complex that is self sufficient in all major military assets from smalls arms to ballistic subs. Can that be said of backwards India?? Thought not . . .

Having said that the gap between China's nuclear and conventional forces juxtaposed to backwards India is how large??? The poor Indians think they are on equal footing with china in a conflict. How delusional can they be? but it is not hard as they are brainwashed by their politicians and media to think they are equals with china.

I wonder if they think China would give them timeouts during a war so they can offer up a tender for 100 more Mirages or MKIs or 100s more T90s??? hmm . . . .

At the end of the day I can't think of why China would want to invade a country with practically 0 natural resources and whom china would need to feed a billion plus beggers living in slums. So all that saber rattling by the Indian's like I said before is to get attention becus they feel they are being left out in the new world dynamics. Maybe they can kidnap Obama and force him to change policy to make India the G2 with uncle Sam??

Both China and India are in the G-20. India's economy is the fourth largest in terms of PPP and twelfth largest in terms of PCI.

The fact is that India is the only country I know where anyone who can not speak English is despised by their own countrymen as a second class citizen! In light of this, even I feel sad for them from time to time whenever I see their remarks to bragging abut their English skills by smearing at other non-native speakers. Sorry, It shows nothing but the pathetic state which your own basic national dignity as a race just being downgraded to.

We Chinese learn English as a tool to communicate with foreigners. Broken English is no issue for us even though I trust that everyone is trying hard to improve thier language tool kits. We are proud of speaking Mandarin. It is our language and is fastly becoming the language of the future to take over English. When that happens, sorry, no more call centers for India.

Yes, I agree the first step to getting others to respect you is to first respect yourself. The second step is to respect other people (but not being subservient or 2nd class citizens).

Because of common history India and China both being under oppressive foreign Euro dictatorship, we need to strengthen our own language and culture.... for this I feel ashamed since I am writing in English on this forum. I hope one day to improve my Chinese so I will write in Chinese (with English translation)! Please, I hope Indians write in their native tongue as well, as I find the many Indic languages more beautiful than English (which only thanks to riding on USA's hedgmonic strength in last hundred+ yrs become dominant).

Are they readily available ways to enter Indic on computer???? If so, can you show me? I've tried to find some but no avail.... I can tell you how to enter Chinese, go to njstar.com and there's free software called 'NJStar Communicator', it lets you enter and read Chinese using different methods. Easiest is PinYin, but may others exist (e.g. HK, TW). It is through language we can communicate, and through communication greater understanding and acceptance of each other! I wish to learn basic Hindu, but unfortunately during my visit I found even in India they don't promote it enough!

The most common language in India is Hindi, yet why don't they use it as standard for (1) business, (2) education, (3) media, (4) official communication, (5) communities --- instead rely on former slave master's language????? That baffles my mind! 40% of Indians speak Hindu (less can write), so why not increase that to 90%. Language is a unifying force. Chinese speak many dialects, only 60 years ago only 70% can speak Mandarin, but now 95+% can speak conversational Mandarin!!!

I hope for the best for India, that they be united and prosperous. Learn from us in this area, embrace your own language and best of luck! Jai Hind! (but also embrace minorities) Jai Hind!

Nobody is "proud" to speak English in India. It is a colonial language. However, in the 21st century, English is the language of commerce and communication. The fact that more Indians can speak it, gives us an advantage over other nations. Now considering the massive English language programs instituted by the Chinese government, the PRC feels the same way.

It might be difficult for a nation as monolithic as China to understand this but India is a nation of many languages. There are 14 national languages, 1000 recognized languages and god-knows how many thousands of other languages spoken in India. That is why English is used as a language in official documents- it is not the only language by the way - It varies from state to state. However to interpret it as being an inferiority complex is a mistake.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Mandarin will never become a universal language like English. Apparently you're under the delusion that with the demise of America, English will go away. Sorry, it won't happen for a multitude of reasons. One of the main being that Mandarin is too bloody hard to learn!

The only language that can possibly overtake English is Spanish but we Indians are covered there. You see while China takes English classes, We Indians take classes in a variety of languages ranging from Spanish, French, etc.

When that happens, sorry, no more call centers for India.

Comrade Nemesis, please don't take much offence with what was said. But you must admit that English is given the Bollywood superstar treatment. I'd much rather watch older Bollywood films even though I don't understand language. You are right, it is much more challenging for India. Whereas in China, there is one language (but many dialects), in India there are numerous (but similar) languages which many have different writing.

However I must disagree on one pretension. Mandarin ALREADY is a global language, more people speak conversation Chinese than English (yes I know many people know bare minimal English). In Latin America, most people don't know English. In Mexico they don't, even though there are many English TV channels! I was shocked when I was there. Same thing with south America. Southern Africa (+ Nigeria) can speak English, but many African states speak Arabic or French. Some countries in Asia like Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and much of Indonesia speak excellent English.... but even in China, Korea and Japan most don't know it.

Yes more people are have learnt English over the last 100 yrs. But remember that Chinese is common with Vietnamese + Nihongo (Kanji) + Han (Korean). There will be two dominant languages Chinese and English, which more who knows for sure. Spanish and Arabic is strongly promoted and I hope Hindi becomes a global player too!

Do you find it interesting how India compares itself with China, but not the other way around? I know there is a finite limit to how much this planet can support, but together India + China can change the world for the better.

The current reality is that we Asians, Africans and Arabs are being suppressed. They attempt to divide and oppress us, so why play into their hands? We are better off working together as friends, it is not a zero-sum game. Here's how I see it:

(1) Working together = everyone benefits

(2) Parasital relationship = one benefits, the other loses out

(3) Confrontational = all parties suffer!
