If India diplomat don't want to be humiliate by the US law enforcement then he/she should never commit any crime in the US.

It still isn't done. Diplomatic niceties are observed as a reciprocal facility. This opens U.S. officials to being targetted similarly. I can almost guarantee that U.S. officials are likely to be in breach of some or other law in India without even being aware of it. These are mostly ignored but exceptions can be made, can't they? It wasn't necessary. Whatever the legal position, this was done with deliberate intent to send a message. What it is remains unclear as of now. There is almost no way that NYPD didn't realise that they were dealing with a diplomat. This was deliberate & meant to elicit a reaction. Whether one this sharp, I do not know.
