Without downplaying the need to combat extremism of all hues, all players must recognise that Hindutva terror in India poses special challenges. While radical Islam and its violent expression is hugely damaging and dangerous, its excuse cannot be used to turn India towards becoming a fascist state. If the ideology of extremist Hindutva takes hold, the potent mixture of politics and religion, in a country where 81 percent of the population is Hindu, is a certain recipe for fascism.

Terrorism is leading to closed societies worldwide, its just not an Indian phenomenon. Its a normal reaction, like hate begets hate. Besides, as the Hyderabad attacks illustrate, its not just a reaction to terrorist attacks but to events that date back to partition and maybe even centuries back. There will always be a couple of loonies.

The important thing now is to make people feel safer, and not let tragedy re-open old wounds. The so called rise of Hindutva extremism should not blind us from the pathetic failure of the Indian establishment to shield its ordinary citizens from terrorism. The parliament attack should have been the last straw. But then Mumbai happened..

We are so tolerant that we tolerate ppl burning our flag in our own backyard. Cheap traitors , fanatics and enemies... we tolerate them all.

Why cry when we (Hindus) have people like Digvijay Singh,Mulayam Singh etc who will go to any lenghts to create a victim hood mentality among Muslims by using the Hindu-terror boogey man and when we have dozens of secularists (again Hindus) who will again find fault with any attempt by the Hindus to have a political voice,(though all the other major religions have one and are termed secular) terming that as fundamentalist.

And I completely agree with your point that Hindus are way too tolerant, to the point of being at fault.Perhaps it is high time we get more organized, on the lines of Semitic religions.

But this must not be mis-interpreted as Ashok's views which wants a more militant form of Hinduism which is not suited to today's world.

Anderson was tried for extradition. but sadly countries cant go offensive against the super power. Extradition of people is a messy business. quite a few criminals are there in many nations.
