India rejects OIC remarks on Kashmir

.
The point was to show that OIC has virtually no influence. The only major player in OIC who could actually damage other countries is in the hands of US, who wont let it act. Whatever resolution they pass, does not have the worth of the paper they are written on.

.
Yes they will do it. But what is the U.S doing in the matter of India?

Please show me an instance where OPEC has stood in support of Kashmir in general or matter of fact denied India OIL. India is not in a position as US, Agreed but it has influence espeically in the arab states, As time goes by Indian and US economies will more and more intertwined for it let India be bullied. Which I dont think is going to happen, And history is on my side.
Also please read about India accquring Oil fields everywhere; and it is in competition mainly with Chinese oil companies.

There are around 60 member states and at least they take it seriously and it has a permanent delegation to UN.
It has a huge structure comprise of many important organisations and subsidaries. e.g. 'Islamic development bank'.
It is insane to say that it has no importance.
Infact, I see it a bigger platform than OPEC. OPEC is commercial institute and I don't expect them to work for the betterment of Islamic world.
OIC's objectives are to make reports, pass resolutions, financial support, mutual co-operation, diplomatic and political support to member states, even sports etc. and I guess any country can apply for the membership.
In this sense it is more versatile than ''common wealth''
Alas, today world affairs are concluded differently i.e. by force.
many countries don't even respect the resolutions of UN it self than why should they care for OIC.
Thats whay our P.Musharraf has taken the lead (as usual) and proposed to transform it in to more like of NATO lines. i.e common military.
I think than it will have no difficulty to force its resolutions, considering the precedent set by NATO.

.
BTW, there are proposals to have common currency like EU.
Its a very strong platform and just need a dynamic leadership and I think it just got one as well.

Islamabad (dpa) - The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) must reform itself to help prevent the "downward slide" of the Islamic world, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf told foreign ministers of the 57-member grouping in Islamabad Tuesday.

"We must face the fact that the disparity with the Western world is increasing, not decreasing," Musharraf said at the start of a three-day conference covering a range of international issues and proposals for the OIC's development.

"At present we are failing in this knowledge-driven world," he said, stressing that the OIC needed to become capable of promoting science and technology and enhancing trade among member states.

Musharraf proposed revamping the OIC charter and boosting the organization's financial clout under a new name. ...........
