NEW DELHI: India has rejected the Organisation of Islamic Conference's (OIC) remarks on Kashmir at a meeting in Islamabad and asserted that the OIC had "no locus standi in matters concerning India's internal affairs".
"We note with regret that the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers (ICFM) has once again chosen to comment upon Jammu and Kashmir in the Islamabad Declaration adopted by the ICFM," external affairs ministry spokesperson Navtej Sarna said in a statement.
"Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and the OIC has no locus standi in matters concerning India's internal affairs. We reject all such references and resolutions on Jammu & Kashmir," he added.
Addressing the 34th session of the ICFM in Islambad, OIC secretary -general Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu said that the organisation was defending the Muslim world's major causes, regardless of whether they were in Iraq, Palestine, Kashmir, Somalia or elsewhere.
The Contact Group of Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) on Kashmir, which met under the auspices of the ICFM, on Wednesday expressed its full support for the right to self-determination of Kashmiri people and welcomed the peace process between Pakistan and India for the resolution of contentious issue of Kashmir.
The annual meeting of ICFM, which was chaired by Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, ended in Islamabad on Thursday with a call for greater social and economic development of its 57 member countries and discussed ways to tackle growing 'Islamophobia' in the world.
