India Ready For Pakistan Talks, U.N. Alarmed By Kashmir Violence

That's sad, that shows we are still stuck in religious superiority whereas world is moving forward

No, sir, it means our countries have not sold their soul for money. There are things that makes us who we are. Indeed the world has moved and I ask you bhai, those countries that majority of our county folk look up to are morally bankrupt.

Let me add: people always cite Christendom economic power, then my question is how and where did they get the resources? Do our countries (Hindustan and Pakistan) invaded other to steal resources?

When Hindustan put a case to get the Kohi Noor, i was happy. No other subcontinent country helped to strengthen the case and we could have had an arrangement like 6 month each county keeps it for public viewing and then pass it on to the other subcontinent country. As Hindustan was the only country to put the case, she had the right to keep it. And I'm happy with that.

If killing in name of religion, is considered having soul, then count me as soulless. It better to be morally bankrupt, then be ultra religious idiot.

And regarding the resources, It was their, they did what was best for their country, Now we have to do whats best for us...

Well killing innocent people for any reason is wrong. Also killing people to impose your way of life/system is wrong as well as illegally occupying and stealing countries resources.

And regarding the resources, It was their, they did what was best for their country, Now we have to do whats best for us...

It was never theirs and owe a lot to the occupied lands. May be you're justifying this because you have plans of doing the same?

Yes, talking is always better than robbery and raping and occupying countries and treating the inhabitants as slaves!

Not justifying, only promoting the idea its better to move on and figure out better future, then to live in the past

Nothing has and nothing will ever come out of these talks. India uses them to either divert international attention form atrocities being committed in Kashmir or to show it is striving for peace which is never the case. Pakistan must avoid falling for this diplomatic trap and help them in improving their image.

The olive branch comes after 40 days of violent protests in Indian-ruled Kashmir.

SRINAGAR/NEW DELHI, Aug 17 (Reuters) - India is ready to send its top diplomat to Pakistan for talks focused on fighting cross-border terrorism, sources at India’s foreign ministry said on Wednesday, after a spike in tension in the disputed northernmost region of Kashmir.

Indian Foreign Secretary Subrahmanyam Jaishankar was willing to attend talks on the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart, the sources said, stressing that cross-border terrorism was central to the situation in Jammu and Kashmir state.

The olive branch comes after 40 days of violent protests in Indian-ruled Kashmir that were sparked by the killing by security forces of a field commander of Pakistan-based Islamic militant group Hizbul Mujahideen who enjoyed wide support.

At least 64 people have died and thousands been injured in clashes with security forces that have been denounced by Pakistan, which also claims the right to rule Jammu & Kashmir in a territorial dispute that dates back to partition in 1947.

The Indian sources, who declined to be identified, made it clear, however, that India “rejects in their entirety the self-serving allegations regarding the situation in J&K, which is an integral part of India.”

Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) is the name of India’s only Muslim-majority state that includes the disputed Kashmir region.

No comment was immediately available from Pakistan’s foreign ministry.

A top U.N. human rights official expressed “deep regret” at the failure of both the Indian and Pakistani authorities to grant access to the separate parts of Kashmir that each run to investigate allegations of serious human rights violations.

U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein said in a statement issued in Geneva it was unfortunate that sincere attempts by the United Nations to independently assess the facts in relation to reports of human rights violations had failed.

“Without access, we can only fear the worst,” said Zeid.

DEADLY AMBUSH

The nuclear-armed neighbors, which have fought three wars since independence in 1947, both claim Kashmir in full but rule it in part.

In the latest violence on Wednesday, militants killed three members of the Indian security forces when they ambushed an army convoy and then fired on a police jeep that came to the scene.

In a worrying escalation the previous day, Indian security forces fired live rounds at a crowd of stone-throwing protesters in Kashmir’s Baramulla district, killing five and wounding 10.

Earlier, police and troops trying to control crowds had resorted to the use of shotguns, whose pellets are meant to incapacitate but not kill.

But residents of Kashmir say the shotguns have inflicted severe injuries and even blinded hundreds of people including bystanders.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi ratcheted up tensions in his annual Independence Day speech on Monday, accusing Pakistan of glorifying terrorism.

In a tit-for-tat escalation in the war of words between the nuclear-armed neighbors, Modi said he had received messages of support from leaders in restive regions of Pakistan, in particular the troubled southwestern province of Baluchistan.

India accuses Muslim Pakistan of supporting Kashmiri fighters while Pakistan accuses India of meddling in Pakistani trouble spots, in particular of helping separatists fighting the Pakistani state in resource-rich Baluchistan.

Both sides deny the accusations.

Humanity is deeply hurt and profusely bleeding in Indian occupied state of J&K yet once more. The people of occupied state have repeatedly refused to become a part of the Indian union despite losing more than a hundred thousand lives while struggling against the brutal oppression by 700,000 Indian troops. They have always strived for getting their right of self determination as promised to them at the UN by world community. Indians have occasionally managed to oppress, blackmail, and sabotage their freedom struggle by using a verity of excuses, dividing and exploiting different Kashmiri groups internally, and diplomatic manipulation at the external front. For last 20 or so years, Indians have been able to exploit the global tide against terrorism to oppress the freedom struggle by labeling it as cross-border terrorism and the freedom fighters as terrorists.

For past six weeks are so, the people of occupied J&K are going through yet another cycle of bloody oppression. Indians forces are using live munitions and pellet guns against unarmed civilian protesters, especially Kashmiri youth, aiming directly at their faces and heads. It is indeed a deliberate attempt to wipe out next generation of Kashmiri people that amounts to a genocide and is a grave war crime against humanity. Despite the brutal force used against them, the people of occupied J&K are determined to continue their freedom struggle. They indeed have no other honorable option.

While Pakistan has invited Indian officials for immediate talks to find a solution for the simmering dispute between the two countries, Indians are using their old tactics to buy more time for suppressing the current wave of protests, rallies, and marches in the occupied state. The people of occupied state have been sandwiched between the two nuclear neighbors. Even if the two countries ostensibly start talking, there is no hope for any progress soon thanks to the bigotry of Indian leaders.

As a matter of fact, the Kashmir dispute, since having been discussed at a global platform none less than the UN, is not merely a bilateral affair between the two countries. Twelve million people of the whole state of J&K make the most important (and most severely affected) party of this dispute. We, the people of J&K, want the world community to oblige their responsibility and actively participate in the process to resolve this simmering issue. We are proposing the following steps aimed at calming down the situation and finding a long lasting solution to this dispute.

1. Indian security forces must return to their barracks immediately. If the people of occupied J&K want to have peaceful rallies in their own towns and cities, like the people in civilized world, it is their inherent right to do so. It's none of the business of the occupation forces to brutally suppress these rallies.

2. International/UN observers must be appointed in the towns and cities of the occupied state in order to ensure that occupation forces don't brutalize the populace again. The presence of observers would be reassuring to the people of occupied state. It is a shame for the world community that Indians expelled UN observers from the bloody Berlin Wall (aka LoC) in the state of J&K a few years ago without any condemnation from the UN or world community.

3. A steering group consisting of the USA, UK, China, Russia, Pakistan and India be formed. The UN Secretary General should be part of that group. A delegation from the state of J&K should also be part of the group. This delegation should be proportionally representative of all ethnic groups in the state.

4. All the discussions, proposals, and decisions must be made at the group. Thus international community would participate in the process. That would disallow any party to have meaningless negotiations perpetually. Also, the people of J&K would be an active part of the process.

5. The proposed steering group would evaluate different proposals aimed at allowing the right of self-determination to the people of the state of J&K in the most appropriate form. It could decide on a plebiscite across the state, zone/region-wise plebiscites, or any other appropriate mechanism. The group will be responsible for arranging/implementing the agreed mechanism, compile the results, and make the announcements.

6. The group will be responsible for handling and managing any transitions, i.e. taking and/or giving the control from/to any country (India and/or Pakistan) according to the results of process of self-determination.

Again, this is the time that Ban Ki-moon, Obama, Theresa May, Angela Merkel, François Hollande, Vladimir Putin, and other leaders of free world come out of their slumber, shed their hypocrisy, and play their role in ending the illegal Indian occupation of J&K. How many more dead bodies these leaders need before they will be willing to speak out publicly against the brutal state terrorism perpetuated by Indian forces against innocent civilian population in occupied state of J&K. How many more children they want get orphaned, women widowed, and parents sacrificing their children against the brutal Indian occupation. It is the time that sick-minded Hindu fanatics of Modi government be forced to have a touch with sanity and allow the people of occupied J&K chose their own future course as promised to them at the UN by the world community.

Humanity is deeply hurt and profusely bleeding in Indian occupied state of J&K yet once more.

Humanity is too big. Separatist Kashmiris are too few and no one gives a puff. May be Pakistan, pehaps? Separatist Kashmiris have nothing to offer to the world. I just wish this entire Aazadi stupidity stops with as less bloodshed as possible. Indian Administered Kashmir is going no where. India has her grip on Kashmir firmly. Separatists are free to go. Those who had money infact have already left.
