UNB, Dhaka
India has opened six new Visa Application Centres (IVACs) in Bangladesh, raising the total number of IVACs to 15, announced its High Commission in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The six new IVACs are in Thakurgaon and Bogura from January 6; andin Cumilla, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria and Satkhira from January 12.

These new IVACs are being opened to further serve the needs and facilitate the access of Indian visas toBangladesh nationals, residing in far-flung and remote areas of Bangladesh, said the High Commission.

At present, there are nine fully functional IVACs in different parts of Bangladesh.

The opening of more IVACs across Bangladesh and the provision of amenities, reflect the continuing efforts of the High Commission of India, in collaboration with its outsourced partner, the State Bank of India, to further streamline the Indian visa application process and strengthen people-to-people contacts between India and Bangladesh, the High Commission added.

Seeing democratic process flourishing and a strong stable government after elections. India is keen to invest in an emerging Market

Exactly. Both China and India is begging to us to allow them to make more investment in industrial sectors of BD. Everybody wants to be the parter of a county that is on its way to become an economic powerhouse by 2050.

What you guys are waiting for? You are claiming as if BD has become the center of the Earth. So, when the Indian and Chinese investments will materialize? It is needed because the foreign investment in BD was a paltry $2 billion or less last year when Vietnam, not even the center of the Earth, received a large $30 billion. Seems you are quite fond of joking, is not it?

They are probably investing directly in BCL's accounts overseas and definitely not as FDI to BD as evident by its stagnancy in USD terms.

I have read only yesterday about the prospect of future exports of garments. It will rise only to $39 billion and not $60 billion that @Neptune or @UKBengali wants us to believe. There is no other sector developing for export. I expect a stagnation of economy unless quite a large FDI in the scale of $20 billion per year materializes. Hope, these two chaps will find out many FDI sources.

We are begging you to invest for what industrial sectors that you are good at? Economic powerhouse, forget it. The only thing you have is cheap labour!

He means wanting to invest in BD by both India and China - remember BD is predicted by a lot of economic forecasters to be the fastest growing large economy in the world till 2030.

PS - Before you try to put down BD, please remember that China was at BD's level 20 years ago.
