India offers Pakistan 5,000MW electricity

it is good deal , any way we have excessive power generation capacity in Gujarat and this will be good gesture and will help us to get transit route for of mining companies to Afghanistan.
It is not possible to transmit power from north India to south India due to huge line loss but across the border is just few 100 KM.
To Indian members stop cursing MMS for this, we need confidence building majors for many big things in future this can be on step on that route.
And to Pakistani members, we do have power shortage in some part of India that may be because of no power plants near that region not because of we don't have capacity, and soon that will be history with new N-Power plants in pipeline across India.

.
India has its own power outages and cannot be relied on as a stable source of power supply.

.
Well if i am not wrong China also offers 3 to 5 hundred Rs/house/month.

Also Iran And now India Then whats wrong with these bastards why they are not taking it ?

.
Its a nice offer, must be appropriated.. Good for ties.

Good news for those who oppose is that this offer simply can not be materialized.. 5000 MW on urgent basis means almost entirely helping Pakistan with energy crisis. Pakistan's economy will boost and that of course is not good for influential circles in India - establishment will resist to extremes or will simply not allow.

Anyway, its a good gesture even if it is symbolic..

PPP is gradually turning Pakistan into an indian dependent Dominion much like india wishes.
Pakistan khappy, PPP has a history of treachery against the state. Bhutto is creditied with loss of eastern wing plus destruction of local industry so that a few tycoon can get rich on imports.

Why not get electricity from Iran or Tajikistan which will also provide much needed political integration.

Your offer of gas is still valid, right?

That's most likely a rumour, How can they offer something they cannot afford themselves.

That's surprise to me also .... there are riots going on for load shedding ... and China and Iran offered way back , but nothing is happening on ground..
May be some big lobbying is going on from private players.... god knows ..I hope you guys get power from India soon... summers are coming and ppl will need more power

Most parts of India are facing huge power outages, why would they offer electricity to Pakistan when they can't fulfill their own needs?

.
We have no problem with electricity. If provinces pay Wapda the bill then everything will be fine. We just need to counter corruption and thats all...

BTW, how can India provide us with 5000 MW, because there are certain states in India that don't get it in the first place...

India offers Pakistan 5,000MW electricity

Seoul: India has formally offered to provide Pakistan with 5,000 megawatt electricity to fulfill its energy requirements on an urgent basis regularly which could be transmitted through Punjab without much delay.

The offer was made by Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in a brief chat he had with Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani during their interaction at the Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) here in the capital city of South Korea.

According to sources, Indian Prime Minister Singh took a keen interest in the economic difficulties of Pakistan and Prime Minister Gilani thanked him for the offer. Gilani assured his Indian counterpart that Islamabad would reply to New Delhi through proper channels soon.

Indian Prime Minister Dr. Singh recalled his last meeting with Gilani in the Maldives where he declared the Pakistani Prime Minister as a ‘man of peace’ and said that the process of talks between the two countries on various levels is heading on a satisfactory pace and if required it could be accelerated.

Prime Minister Gilani also expressed identical views and urged Dr. Singh that their governments should be remembered for establishing endured peace in the region and resolving disputes which have made progress and development of the region their hostage.

You mean India wants to sell electricity to Pakistan.

Pakistan should offer its regrets to India - Thanks but no thanks.

Most parts of India are facing huge power outages, why would they offer electricity to Pakistan when they can't fulfill their own needs?

1. India is world's largest producer of Milk still we are one of the largest importer of milk and still............ India export milk. :woot:

2. India imports crude oil from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Venezuela, Nigeria................... still India export oil to Iran and USA :woot:

Evil yindoo baniya.......have many ways to make money....... ;)

How many times , we have to explain same thing ..It is easy to export from Gujarat or Punjab to Sindh or Lahore than South India.
It is few 100 KM across border but few 1000 for South India from Punjab not practical due to line loss (general physics ) .
So you want to worry for Indian power shortage or need it for Pakistan , which is suffering more than India because of power shortage in any field. We are in process of double our generation capacity in next 10-15 years but I don't see any plans in Pakistan..
