We try to be. I think the most religiously organised Muslim community in the west is the Gujarati people. It's no surprise, many of them were generational businessmen and came from east Africa. They've experienced being a minority and running businesses much before the rest of us. They have good organisational skills, good community spirit and utilise that in their religious education as well. Many of their youngsters are well educated in the deen.

We Mirpuris have good intentions, we have lots of masjids, but our islamic education models have been a little old school. Alhamdulillah, that's all changing.

I mean no offense what so ever, but from my observations elite Pakistani Punjabis in America and Canada are not as observant.

Most American Pakistani and many Canadian Pakistanis don’t even want to be called Pakistani. It is really sad. They emulate Arabs or Sikhs, respectively.

Identity is totally confused for these people. In the current generation, vast majority cannot read or write Urdu, know nothing about Quaid and Iqbal, and are barely Muslims.

This same thing happened long ago to Iranians and Arabs who arrived before us.

British Pakistanis are leagues better than American/Canadian Pakistanis as far as deen and culture. Most of us here marry Whites or Arabs, and pretend like we aren’t Pakistani anymore.

We are mostly Punjabi, Pukhtoons, Seraikis, and Hazara Hindko speakers. Decent number of Muhajirs also, but mostly they are in Indian Muslim circles.

I've also observed that british bengalis who are known be 95% sylhetis are also pretty pious in general in the UK. If you've ever met bengalis in the uk, would you agree with that?

I can't really say. My town only has a very small Bengali community, i only know 2 Bengali brothers, both are nice people and pious.
