India moves to end primary teaching in English as Modi unveils major education reforms

A word? Try name of one of the greatest, if not the greatest language in the world.
And which is that?

But read my posts carefully. Even @Joe Shearer asked me to write some word outside the corpus of Devanagiri having sounds which Hindi or Marathi speakers don't use. He didn't even get what I was trying to say and continues with his cover-up act.

It's like expecting Roman script to write a word like: बाण . I'm sure you don't know how to pronounce but it's ok.

I never said that.

I said I was in Bengali medium till Class VIII. Considering that my Mum spoke cut-glass RP, and brought me up after school hours on the best of English literature, I learnt the damn' thing too early, if anything. I don't remember making a spelling mistake at any time. At any time.

Class VIII is very late for an introduction to English. But it's really great you had a thorough, comprehensive background in your mother tongue.

But you had the motivation and drive to learn English even as an adolescent and adult. Today's smartphone and XBox addicted kids cannot do the same.

I only came to London, Ontario once...never even been to Toronto.

Kind of an odd travel arrangement heh.

London is the green garden city of southern ontario.

I was in the States which is a hell lot better than boring Canada.

Depends. We have a strong aversion to burning down our cities which is kind of nice.

Quebec must be a crazy place beyond anyone's imagination.

It's not that crazy.... quebecers clam up fast on quebec related topics 90% of the time (to what they sense as an outsider), but there are tricks of trade to get them to open up.

Other than that they are wonderful people, with a wonderful genuine culture that they guard fiercely.

Quebec city (esp old quarter) is the best place to be in the world during christmas/new years...its not even close.

You come to Quebec and see how far English gets you :)
Actually I found out quite the hard way how far standard French gets me....that sticks out too, and very quickly.
But easy to learn other once you know one variant...and have to use daily.

Quebec never fails to amaze you. People there thinks that they are more French than people in France. You may survive in Montreal but country side you have to become Quebecois :)

It's a beautiful and properties are cheap

Abe @Shantanu_Left it's super easy to get girlfriend i.e. place to live and free French Teacher!

We have a Franchophone curry here. Noone in North America likes the Frenchies of Canada, all the NHL and Stanley Cup fans have beef with them but I wasn't in the States long enough to pick up on that hobby.

Quebec Frenchie and Currie....You must be twice the prick. Have to be careful with you. J/kidding

Please elaborate if there's a mistake and use normal English while putting your point across :p:

Its ok buddy, was just having a little fun at your expense.

I learned Sanskrit very thoroughly...trust me I know the great merits of devanagari script.

It is actually from that learning I later picked up Hindi over time...without too much difficulty.

Trivia humdinger coming up.

Do you know the only two educational institutions in the world entitled to battle honours on their flags?

All right, fellas. See y'all in late night.

See this is what the CoC is all about. Everyone be a D I C K to each other, and noone take offence! That's the way I like it
