What's new

India knocks Russia's door again for FGFA.

Realistically, Su-57 / FGFA is the only replacement for hundreds of Su-30 MKI 10 to 20 years down the road. F-22 is politically not feasible. Ditto J-20. EU has no equivalent. India cannot make an equivalent by itself.

Subject to indian behaviuor F-35 is available, F35 is better than FGFA

F-35 is not the same size class. It's a medium size. F-35 and Rafale can only phase out MiG-29 and Mirage 2000. Only Su-57 / FGFA can phased out Su-30 MKI which is large size. Only Su-57 / FGFA and Su-30 MKI are big enough to carry a single BrahMos A air launched cruise missile.

Fgfa cannot carry such a big missile as it will loose stealth and cant carry it internal weapon bay ... F35 being stealth can do role of air superiority for india ... In any case fgfa or j20 or f22 cannot be weapon truck like su30 ... Whereas f35 being single engine has enough range to provide air superiority ...

It can carry in internal bay. It works with Kh-59MK2 which is similar in size to BrahMos A.

For air superiority you need super cruise and TVC. Just stealth alone is not enough.

Where has India's $529 billion external debt come from?

Was it soft loans or hard loans? Was it Western loans or Eastern loans?

Any idea? Do enlighten us.
Those were mostly commercial loans taken by non government companies in India AND NRIs investing their money in India. Actual government loans in dollars are very less of order of 100 billion or so. That against 400 billion of forex reserve is actually not even worth mentioning. BTW, wrt Pakistan, the situation is totally opposite. ALL of the debt is held by government. Also, India has worked to make its company's bankruptcy law simpler. So if a private company goes belly top, it will be easier to liquidate its assets to recover its debt. Unlike Pakistan or Srilanka, India will not have to sell a port to China to pay its debt.

Hope it educates and enlightens you!

F-35 comes with US strings attached. Honestly, Rafale is stealthy enough and unknown enough for Chinese to handle. Unlike F-35, Rafale is under complete control of French. SO:
1. Till 2045 or so it will be a bunch of Rafale in the stealth group.
2. After that it will be Franco-German JV fighter.

In interim, if ADA can make their AMCA work --that is like Tejas they took 25-30 years-- to deliver then sure, that will be a second fighter for India.

India an ex western colony has always admired the west and hated Russia. India will replace every Russia plane with western plane.

However, the west will never allow India to develop its own plane. Just look what Americans did to CF-105, Lavi, and Kaveri engine.

India & USSR were buddies.
If Russia developed high tech planes or indulged in advanced practices , India will be the first customer.

France is helping with Kaveri engine.

Rafael is stealthy ... What are you smoking man ... its really hard stuff ...

Tempest is not in competition with any 5th gen bird because it will be 6th gen bird superior to 5th gen birds that is why is very good option for India or any one looking for very advance stealth bird in future, KSA may also look into it.

The Tempest is not a deviation from other similar programs, including AMCA and FCAS. All these jets will be powered by similar engines.

In India, ADA has defined the AMCA as a 5.5th gen jet. And the 6th gen will come with hypersonic capability, which will replace the MKI after 2050. We also have other unmanned projects after the IUSAV is completed.

Rafale and FGFA will likely be the last jets we import. One private Indian company in fact is working towards cutting out a significant number of Rafales from the equation as well.

FGFA won't replace MKI. MKI has a lot of life left. Even the oldest jet will give 20 more years.

India will replace every French and Russian plane in operation today with French, Russian and Indian planes for now, with the most being Indian planes. And then, eventually, all these planes will be replaced with future Indian planes, starting with the Su-30MKI.

India doesn't hate Russia.

No, they can't stop us. And they did nothing to Kaveri anyway.
