What's new

India knocks Russia's door again for FGFA.

A balanced approach because in the past Russia stood by india come what may. They were true allies with the indians. The indians then starting wagging their tail with the yanks. This made the Russians re-think many things in regards to foreign policy or rather india has done a great favour to Pakistan in making inroads towards Russia.
Russians hatve their share of blame here. Name it whatever, su-mk30i, vikramaditya fiasco etc. Long delays price overturns are common, not to mention problem with spares.

Now a days India doesn't sit in a block opposite to USA. We have access to better deals.

All usa military deals with India are within budget and stipulated time only which makes a good service from their point at a hefty price but which is still worth it

The point is not FGFA. Pakistan and Russia are not partners there. It is about other weapons. Regarding bail out that is not an issue with Pakistan. A country that has China at it's back is in no hurry. Pakistan just bought $3 billion of equipment from Turkey where is that money coming from. $10 billion gas deal with Russia where gas that money coming from?
India has hung Russia and they are asking for a reply.
I would like to see the links for your claims

Americans have no allies. Only partners. Americans are the least dependable suppliers. Look at Turkey. Also, American politics are too unstable. One day Trump. Next day who knows? Russia and India go back decades. Russia is at least dependable, not like America which is not. Also, hundreds of Su-27 / 30 are nearing the end of their life cycle in the coming decade. America sure ain't as hell willing to sell F-22 to India for replacement. It has to be Su-57 / FGFA for that.

India has again held talks with Russia for it's FGFA.
What Russia offered India this time.

Both sides would invest $4 billion each at the developmental stage, while the total cost of constructing 127 fighter jets is estimated to amount to $25 billion. In the project, the Russian side is represented by the Sukhoi aircraft manufacturer and the Indian side by Hindustan Aeronautics.

India will have a license production of the jet. It will not be TOT.

Russia is giving India most technology than any one else is offering, which is none. USA no tot, France no tot, so Russia is giving India best offer.

Yury Slyusar, the president of the Russian United Aircraft Corporation (UAC)
Visit of russiRu deputy minister to Pakistan has worked

For all those who think you should have money in your pocket to buy XYZ should study Finance first, because a good Finance Manager is not the one who already have money to use, its the one who can arrange it on good terms when required.

Basic example is consumer financing, people don't have full payment capacity usually but still they managed to buy house or vehicle etc.
Every heard Finance Cycle .. Best finance Manager are one who buy things without Interest and without loans.....

Their are chances you ended up like Lanka .. have to give your HQ on lease

There is a reason why India does not buy their top most weapon platforms from USA. As you have aptly put, America as a weapons supplier is highly unreliable.

I believe India should submit its requirement to Franco-German joint Gen-5 fighter project and fund the development with condition that Indian personnel and engineers from public and private sector will be allowed to participate and have access to most of the technology leaving some highly critical pieces like jet engine core.

In the meanwhile, buy some Rafales and build mass production facilities. India lacks production capabilities when it comes to weapon systems. Russia, for example, during world war 2 was able to defeat a much more advanced and better trained German force due to their sheer production capabilities.

Best option for India is UK's Tempest project.

Best option for India is UK's Tempest project.

Tempest and the Franco-German options are coming in significantly later than 2035, and will likely become options for export only after 2040. These jets are practically in competition with the AMCA though.

But we need stuff in less than a decade.

Apart from the FGFA option, we have one other new indigenous 5th gen program happening anyway. With the AMCA following these two programs, we do not need to join in with the British and French.

Tempest is not in competition with any 5th gen bird because it will be 6th gen bird superior to 5th gen birds that is why is very good option for India or any one looking for very advance stealth bird in future, KSA may also look into it.
