India, Israel working on defence framework agreement...!!!!

In the run-up to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to Israel, both countries are working on a defence framework agreement to cement the already robust strategic ties that exists between the two nations.Mr Modi, will be the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Israel, after New Delhi granted recognition to the Jewish country 65 years ago on September 17, 1950.

The defence officials of the two sides have been working back and forth to make the visit successful, especially in the military cooperation.

“We are trying to stitch an agreement for defence cooperation on the lines of the defence framework agreements we have with other close strategic partners, like Russia, Japan and the US,” sources in the Defence Ministry said.

When contacted, Israeli Ambassador to India Daniel Carmon refused to confirm the same, saying that he would not like to go to the specifics of what is being worked out. But, he said Israel intends to develop the defence cooperation with India, which is not limited to buyer-seller relationship.

Expressing his country’s willingness to participate in ‘Make in India’ initiative in the defence sector, he said, ”We are flexible when it comes to transfer of technology. Israel and India had shifted away from buyer-seller relations towards a stronger and more equal partnership that may include joint production and co-development.”
