Till the last days of war in 1971 which Pakistan was losing miserably in East Pakistan, your military used to feed bogus stories of its victories to your population. That's why it came as such a rude shock to the population when their country broke up into 2..

That year, Pakistan's 50% of defence budget got spent just keeping its forces on the border to balance India's deployment. We spent 4 billion USD and Pak spent 2 Billion.. factor in a 7 times economy size difference between India and Pakistan and wait for the penny to drop
