India-France Rafale Deal Stalled

HAL definitely can build the plane. But just don't hold Dassault responsible for HAL's follies. The only responsibility for Dassault is to transfer the assembly line and related technology. After that, Hal is on its own. How can HAL grow up if Indian gov is not making them responsible.

STop hold Dassault responsible for any planes manufacture by HAL
Buddy this condition is nothing more then another tactic by Govt Officials to reduce the procurment price of Rafale....At the end all of us know that Dassault won't agree to this condition....

1.The Frenchies must be cursing the day when they signed this deal with the Indians. Indians are well known all over the world to be very difficult people to deal with.
2. The other factor is F-35. With an Air Chief totally pro-Israel and pro-US and several top leaders pro American, F-35 is still in the contest. Indians are yet to learn how stubborn and unethical these Americans can be for commercial gains.

...I think the F-35 is too rich even for Indian blood. India is not Japan or Canada or Australia and it requires a much bigger air fleet. F-35 is simply way too expensive in large quantities.

India should just go with the Eurofighter Typhoon its a better plane than the Rafale. Its cost a bit more but the extra price is well worth it.

Wow, just wow.

Any chance India getting F-35?

you know about the Russian deal of PAK-FAs right? I'm not sure how comfortable Americans are of letting the Russians look at F-35s.

After reading the article, the French seems reasonable, they provide the designs and 18 fighters. If 18 fighters are good then no problem with the design. Why should the French be responsible for something they can't control? No where is this the standard.

Well, French learnt from Russian experience. When Russian team brought back all SU30 kits from HAL India and re assemble them. Because all crashed SU30 were assemble in HAL India and HAL fail to properly job done in India. Plus , Rafale has huge reputation and its last chance of market survival. If India crash few Rafale then French think that might have huge impact on plane reputation in the market.

nope..Rafale is adequate for us..when inducted,it'll be best aircraft inducted in Asia.Typhoon is a great aircraft, but it is not a finished product, and we can't wait till 2018 to finish it..Rafale will do the job.by the way, only deference in deal remains is that price of the deal and some policies regarding deal.Indian media is hyping the fact again.

Americans can't find willing buyers for F-35. All sales so far have been push sales to allies and underlings like India. If required they will give India credit line. And the more it costs, the more the graft for Indian high ups. Indian leaders do not bother about their poor people or financial feasibility when the graft is attractive.

Yeah, the only truth in it is that the real money is missing as ever from the deal.

u are confusing us for pakistan... where the money is missing as it is all with imf..

oh really??make comment based on fact, not hot air..

in 3 Su-30 mki crashed,1 crashed due to faulty switches in the cockpit which disable fly by wire..thats a design error..
another one crashed due to "Foreign Material" in engine intake.
another was crashed due to malfunction in the fly-by-wire system..tell me now,for which one of the crash,HAL should be blamed.

and for Rafale's international market,we are only buyer of the Rafale, nobody else bought it.if this deal fell off,it'll be the last nail in the coffin of Rafale.it is a capable jet.but it is competeting with aircrafts better than this and countries with much powerful lobby.and for excellence of HAL,they built hundreds of jets in the past 40-50 years..even CEO of Dassault clarified HAL as partner.if HAL is not qualified, they will not make it partners,do they???Aircraft doesn't fall off the sky due to assembly fault(which barely occur),but failure of major components..

What this thread proves, is that we have many trying hard to gain the top spot of being the biggest moron on PDF. What is happening here is very simple. We have the french wanting to do this as a JV with an Indian private company vs. HAL a government entity.

The benefit of which is obvious- slowing India as exporter when they learn through these TOT i.e. at some point this knowledge will help India in their own programs. It helped the Chinese ( their version of TOT= reverse engineering) and now they don't import that much. This is not about lack of trust in HAL- it is about the economic benefit for them via a JV. Then too -they may not even have to do a full TOT with a JV! it is a deal struck with a private Indian company and them.

all these smoke and mirrors about not being capable blah blah is just that. THEY want this to be a JV with someone like reliance or TATA ...

Typhoon is not a full fledged multirole bird yet. Rafale is.

Management of the Typhoon Project | National Audit Office

The Typhoon fighter aircraft is already fulfilling some key defence tasks but it is unlikely to reach its full potential as a multi-role aircraft until 2018, according to a National Audit Office report to Parliament.

Typhoon already successfully undertakes air defence tasks and so far MOD has committed a total of £564 million to upgrade Typhoon for the ground attack role. However, it is unlikely to become the aircraft of choice for most ground attack missions until 2018.

perhaps BD can buy few hundreds F-35 to increase America's sales..but we are not underling of USA(unlike your half brother) and we already refused F-35 for IAF..

India will never buy an American fighter jet even if they give it us for free.
