LOL India pretty well knows that Pk cannot afford to give a transit route to India. The request was just so that we can have a valid point to:
1. When India does chalk out alternate routes and builds up defense to safeguard these routes then there cannot be any objections from Pakistan - bcos it has refused us a transit route in the first place, so its lost the say in the matter.
2. India can get in any number of personnel to safeguard its transit route. reason who else will safeguard the goods - not Pk, its refused to give us transit in the first place so why will it protect our goods, India will have to do it herself.
3. Nobody in the world can object to any other alternate routes be it thru' Iran or thru' central Asia - bcos Pk has refused to give us transit. So we had to find a way out.
4. By refusing, Pk ends up looking bad in the eyes of Afg as well. And adds up to Pk's image as not a forward trade friendly country, who refuses to see the improvement of Afg.
Just my 2 cents, but Pk can surprise us all by accepting to give transit. That would be the right move with gaining control of the entire trade between Ind vs Afg. But I doubt Pk will think rationally.
