I doubt even half of these projects becoming a reality. POSCO still having trouble acquiring land and Mittal has said that India is not his priority.

Very nice!! Any ideas whether there are plans for widespread deployment of these carriages for most or many routes in India???

^^

Your wish is come true, these double-deckers are all over the map now, still new.
People crane their necks or turn around to watch when these beasts pass by even today.

A neighbourhood friend invited me to a walk to the local railway station. Since they are always walking distance in urban areas all over India, it's a social thing. We saw the Palace-On-Wheels parked on a siding, local trains passing but no double decker. We saw the double decker parked at another station but it took off within 1/2 hr. India is India, we hopped in and toured both decks. Great fun.

Bawa-ji no kya shot ... well done Humayun Pirzada.

I'm a big enough fan of 3-5 apro Bawaji log's work that I can often recognize new-new India's Humayun Pirzada, Hafeez Contractor, Ratan Tata, Adi Godrej, Boman Irani, Rohinton Msitry and Zia Mody from the caliber of their work. It speaks for itself.

Now, that's professionalism.

Meanwhile, Delhi NCR's Noida

DC to setup a plant in Sanand to build Avanti and a super SUV!

Avanti
------

Founded and promoted by the famous Indian automobile designer Mr. Dilip Chhabria, DC Design was into customization of automobiles and bespoke designs for cars that already exist. The firm has been presenting outrageous design concepts occasionally, like the DC Imperator.

Word is it's Indian Rs. 30 Lakh, about Pak. Rs. 60 Lakh.

I can see a good enough market for it since it's priced below BMW, Audi, Jag-Land Rover and Merc (all have factories in India) range and real-estate's gone through the roof.

Imperator
---------

Times are changing now and DC wants to become an automaker. The ambitious move saw the introduction of the DC Avanti at the Delhi Expo last year. Now, DC is setting up a 60 Crore plant at Sanand in Gujarat to make its own cars.

Kanpur Trans Ganga City - Proposed

Spread across 1156 acres, the proposal for the Trans Ganga Masterplan by Studio Symbiosis is envisioned as an iconic city on the banks of Ganga, aimed at being a self sufficient sustainable city. Developed as a mixed use project, this will provide the most influential and dominant context for the master plan.

Client: UPSIDC
Site Area: 1156 acres
Location: Kanpur, India

The existing patterns of Ganga were studied and through digital simulation density patterns emulating the Ganga patterns were translated into the central green of the master plan. This central green area gives the master plan a distinct character and acts as breathing lungs for the city.

Sustainable city design has been imbibed in the planning at two levels. Firstly at the design level elements required to make a city sustainable have been grafted in the master plan. Secondary at the implementation stage green roof, earth cooling, solar panels, ground water recharge, waste management have been proposed.

At the heart of the master plan an auto expo is located, sitting amidst the central green. The auto expo is designed as an iconic building creating a prominent visual marker. It is located at a very important interface of the central green and the promenade. It’s an amalgamation zone of various activities of the master plan cascading into each other thereby creating a functionally rich urban plaza. Auto Mart and Auto Expo are the two distinct functions nested in the building. These two activities are segregated using two continuous non intersecting ramps in the proposal.

Land use distribution consists of Commercial, industrial, Mixed use, residential and public amenities. In view of the Indian conditions, special amenities overlapped with certain design parameters have been provided in the master plan to avoid encroachment. The functional diversity has been unified by a seamless skyline. This undulating skyline merges the various functional requirements of the master plan into a visually coherent system.

Iconic towers have been designed along the Ganga riverfront . These commercial/mixed used towers soaring up to a height of 100-140 meters, impart a sense of arrival to the master plan. The façade pattern for the towers will form a part of the detailed urban design guidelines. This façade pattern has been designed by solar analysis using computational software’s, thereby generating a façade system that acts as a sustainable design feature in the master plan by reducing the heat loads.
