India Developing, but still a long way to go

Don't know why you are showing this to us, but congrats. We are working on our metro rail project too.

I guess he was trying to show how trains/metros/or for that matter any public transport can be additionally used for branding/advertisement platform and generate additional revenues other than fares.

And yet the median household income and average wealth of an adult Indian is still lower than Pakistan

And yet the median household income and average wealth of an adult Indian is still lower than Pakistan

You and me know that Indian per capita is higher than pakistan. You also know that any pakistani need advanced treatment, they prefer to come India or some other countries, though few of your health system some what improved, though not adequate serving 200 million people.Pakistan's rich class or well qualified prefer to live outside your country, unlike many indians, since we have adequate highly paid jobs on MNC's,hospitals etc to those professionals and highly qualified people. There is no TATA,Infosys,Wipro,Mahindra,Reliance,Birla etc kind of companies in pakistan to satisfy talented people.

If you look my parameters mentioned before and think where your country standing on those !

Software,Coal, automobile production, electricity production, gold consumption, space sector,Pharma industry,Steel and cement production, many agricultural items, railways, oil refinery size, diamond industry, stock market size, forex reserves , every where Size of India is 10,20,40 times than pakistan, even though we are only 6 times your population and some not any matter of comparison at all such as Coal production, gold consumptions, space sector, many agricultural items like Tea,Rubber,Cofee etc, since pakistan not in picture at all, let alone compare ! Any way i don't want to derail this nice thread any further.

Median household income could vary as the number of members (both earning and dependant) vary from family to family. It is hardly a reliable parameter. if u look at Per capita income figures, you would see that indian per capita income is higher than Pakistan. Till 2010 Pakistan's income was higher, but India got ahead in 2011 and it has been like that since.

There is much higher inequality in India than Pakistan. The $100-150 higher per capita is because of the select few billionaires averaging out rest of the population. The Indian journalists that have come to our side have attested to the fact that that common man in Pakistan is richer.

Yes the income inequality situation is slightly (not much just slightly) better in Pakistan. This is shown through gini coefficient.

And as you can see in this pic, Pakistan sits in the 25-30 category and India in the next level of 30-35.
not a huge difference given our much higher population. And that figure is of 2014, situation would have improved further here by now to some extent.

What is your proof? The "few billionnaires" are not enough to push up the per capita income so much higher. The average Indian is almost $1K richer.

Google the per capita income of both nations. Remember, Google is a fairly decent antidote to ignorance

C'mon, to really compare try
  • Pak. Punjab Vs. Indian Punjab + Haryana (erstwhile Punjab)
  • Pak. Sindh Vs. India's analogous Gujarat state
  • Lastly, Pak. Vs. Indian Kashmir
Compare cities:

Lahore Vs. Delhi, Karachi Vs. Bombay, Islamabad Vs. Chandigarh or Lyallpur Vs. Bangalore/Kanpur.

Trust me, jobs production and the economic numbers for Pak.'s cities stand nowhere Vs. their Indian sister cities. The opposite should have been the case. Pakistan was predicted to be the next Germany, S. Korea (they famously borrowed the Pakistani development model).

Even the Tier2 city like Kochi will beat biggest city of Pakistan-Karachi on many parameters like below:-

1. Kochi has world class hospitals,Karachi does not have one.
2. Kochi has one of the largest mall, bigger than Karachi
3. Kochi has more 5 star hotels than karachi
4. Kochi has metro rail system, karachi does not have one
5. Kochi attracts more foreign tourists than Karachi

Particularly to the fact that population in Kochi hardly 7-8 times less than that of Karachi.I am here not comparing Delhi vs Lahore or Mumbai vs Karachi, but a Tier2 Indian city with biggest Tier1 pakistani city. This can be an eye opener for many pakistani's and focus on development only, than rivalry with India.Hope pakistan concentrate on right path.

Not interested to derail the thread, hence not posting any pictures of Karachi or writing long replies and arguing with you. Check the threads below, this won't take much space here and won't be jarring. It is mostly about wrong perception and believing it.

An economically successful Pakistan is great for an economically successful India ..that way both of us will focus on our own growth and problems instead of each other's :-)

No denying this basic fact, all agreements and no arguments.

It is the regions which develops and not individual countries...India and Pakistan need to know and accept this fact.
