used f-16
Oh my bad, Its the J-20 which is banned for Exports, J-31 will take time to fully get matured for Induction (could be 2023-25) so ya.. you guys have the option to buy j-11 or buy more used f-16 for now and keep some money reserved to get the next Gen fighters in good numbers
This is a sensible discussion ... well how about better J11 or SU35???
this is over confidence .....
point is a single squadron of Rafale is more capable than the 4 squadrons of Mig27 & Mig21combined@shree835
My concern is not the low numbers of Rafale but the total reduction in our numbers. By the time we will receive the 2 squadrons of Rafale , we will have to retire 4 squadrons of Mig27s, at least 4 of Mig21s and 2 of Jaguars. To replace all of these, we will at best have 2 squadrons of Rafale, 2 squadrons of Su30mki and 2 squadrons of Tejas. We still fall short of 4 squadrons. We need to get second hand mirages and new Mig29s to fill up the gap .
The Rafale is highly priced. This is actually due to the fact that the French Armee de l'Air (French Air Force) wanted a plane that could fit the roles of "seven planes in one" (directly translated from the words of a top ranking French official). This would explain the high price.
SU-35...!!!! Just forget it..... You Should Say this is time to order some CHINI Maal.
Kid we forget nothing we already paid 295 million $ for preliminary design for FGFAyeaa we should forget that just like u forget S400 defence system without PAKFA
we r happy to acquire CHINI MAAL as long as it meet our requirements that is to target indians

Well thats how the story began in 1980s with IAF projecting a requirement of a cost effective point defence fighter for MiG 21 replacement by mid 90s. & it will still perform about the same role that MiG 21 performed/performs.I thought LCA was the Mig 21 replacement...
FOC is expected by end of this year along with possible addition of AESA radar (LCA Mk 1A).Whither LCA though??
if they are replacing there inventory so are we we are also upgrading owr jaguars mirage 2000 and mig 29s and buying/making Su-30 MKI's and the fact a big order for LCA MK1A is already placed and with 36 french built rafales coming on fast track basis plus the possibility of russian single seat PAKFA in equal numbers as those of rafales means there is no way IAF will be a slouch. And the concept of 1 to 1 procurement is obsolete now in the world of omni role / multi role fighter jetsThis logic may be right for a country size of UK or France, not for India. Because the enemy is replacing its inventory 1 for 1 with an aircraft which is twice as capable than its predecessor.

Thats right...To fill the gap of MiG21 , 100+ Tejas MK1 A is progressing well....and Tejas MK2 is also going good....Later if IAF is happy with Rafale , we will go for follow-up order....Here history will repeat again same as SU-30MKI.
Please make a note capability of Rafale is equivalent to 5+ aircraft... only 36 is very good enough to convert pakistan air force into no air force.
well if u think weapons make armies win then Nato should have conquered Afghanistan successfully and Afghanistan would have been peaceful but sadly President of Afghanistan is famously dubbed as Mayor of kabul
well i think they are banned but experts in here can confirm .. i think with more lobbying Pakistan can get its hands on J11b and also Pakistanis are thinking to jump on 5th generation fighter like j31 soo i hope they come up with something better more advanced and not very costly fighter....
