Indeed. Its a failure of our institutions.
What is sad is that despite cries that our cities are not planned - any further expansion of cities is still not planned. Consequently they still and will not have the water and sewer connections.

Its all related. The flaws I believe are mainly related to local levels - of city administration.

Town planing is an alien concept in India. Since the local city admin is a hub of corruption, every plan is perverted and twisted to serve someone's vested interests.

Add incompetence and No one with specialised education or training in the relevant sectors, we get a perfect recipe for disaster and chaos.

In case you did not know, most global media used to take their clues from the Anglo media. Its changing, but not fast enough.

Pick up any BBC news about India and you will ALWAYS find one of the following, - CASTE, POOR, TOILET............but guess what ? India is more than these negative identifiers.

You are free to wallow in your ignorance mocking things you are not aware of like the famous frog in the well. Make a habit of reading global media for the next 10 years and then come back and tell me they do not have an agenda. Especially BBC.

Today ask anyone in UK what comes to mind when they think of India, then ask anyone in the world what comes to mind when they think of India. You will be surprised to find the difference in the answers. Maybe you can google it up.

I am talking in context only....West is called Developed countries..... that is not the case with us.....

and on top of that we are open society ...media can report anything that it sees not good in India, may its rape, toilet, poverty, politician or whatever....this is the beauty of our country, hope things will improve in coming years as more and more people are reacting to the situation thru widely and rapidly spread social media... we just needed a good leadership, money is not the problem in India...just look at this, PM Modi talked about Sanitation during his Independence Day Speech and Billions of Rupees got available for it from Private Sectors in just 5 days!

Just imagine, what we can do and achieve in next 10 years with correct leadership at center!
