India, Bangladesh in border clash

How much does a J10 and Thunder cost? Bangladesh would probably be thinking in terms of air defense. Radars and SAMs and other goodies that we can shoot down Indian aircraft with .....

Bangladesh has a great oppurtunity to improve its relations with china and pakistan at the same time

Chinese want to encircle india by creating pressure points on all sides of india by supporting pakistan, bangladesh and bhutan miliatarily. There are future possibilites that just like Gwadar naval base is being constructed for chinese, same would be the case for chittagong naval base. Bangladesh should also think of improving its airforce by purchasing J10s and Thunders from China and Pakistan.

Firstly, welcome to the forum and since this is your first post I can understand your way of thinking. Bangladesh could buy the J-10 but that would take time since the fighter's first foreign customers would be Pakistan and I think the delivery begins next year.

I believe the term your looking for the "encircling of India" is called the "String of Pearls".

you seem convinced that there will be a india-bangladesh war. why the pessimism?

Oh no...he's being optimistic.

optimism? how is a bangladesh-india war optimistic for him? his country will get drubbed.

its bad news for india as well. a war with bangladesh will result in death of many of our soldiers, our stock exchange will take a beating (as does every country's during a war), we will look bad in international arena, and bangladesh will sponsor more terrorism against india.

India Bangladesh war ? Other than Mr Munshi make some money writing the novel. Its not going to happen. Both Countries need each other and the relationship between them is quite good.

Both need to combat poverty on a war footing than fighting with each other.

Which is why I am saying that he's being optimistic.

I do not view a Indo-BD war with optimism but I envisage that in the case of a conflict India will want clear skies over Bangladesh. Weapons that have been suggested on this thread would restrict Indian dominance in that regard or at least make it more risky for their aircraft to access BD airspace. This generally would give India food for thought.

Eventually Bangladesh will not be able to put up a decent fight in the air and sea though it will be another matter on land so you will just be diverting precious resources with out getting value for money irrespective what system you get.

Anyway I don't think the Bangladesh has any scenarios of taking on India even for a few days.

Like always quiet dipolmacy will be good enough.

BD handed over 11 suspects to India: report

Tuesday, 21 Oct, 2008 | 08:44 AM PST |

DHAKA, Oct 20: Bangladesh deported 11 suspected Indian insurgents between June and August in an effort to end cross-border attacks, a state-run news agency reported on Monday.

Bangladesh has revealed first time that it has handed over alleged terrorists to India despite no extradition treaty existing between the nations.

The agency said the revelation came “against the backdrop” of lengthy accusations by Indian authorities and media that Bangladesh harbours Indian separatists, claims that Dhaka has consistently denied.

“We have handed over 11 suspected insurgents in between June 12 and Aug 22 this year as part of our policy to fight against cross-border terrorism and crimes,” BSS news agency quoted an unnamed security official as saying.

The 11 bring to 120 the number of Indian “criminals and insurgents” arrested by Bangladesh since 2003 and sent back as part of Dhaka’s move to “build confidence” with New Delhi.

The official also said 10 “alleged operatives” of India’s outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) were killed in an encounter with elite anti-crime troops as they infiltrated into Bangladesh territory.

They did not give the exact date and place of the encounter.

India has erected a barbed wire fence along more than half of the 4,000-kilometre border between the two countries and wants to fence the entire border, which Bangladesh opposes.

India often accuses Bangladesh of pushing illegal migrants through the border and harbouring militants fighting Indian rule in its northeast. Dhaka says Delhi allows Bangladeshi criminals to take refuge on its soil. —AFP

thinking of a patriotic pakistani
hoping same response from my bangali brothers

"Bangladesh ur soverign country has always remained closer to my heart because of the reason that some times we also had some link with that part. I had never been to Bangladesh but i always think a high about Bangladesh. while serving under United nations, whenever i see some Bengali officer or jawan , they always get a special protocol and so is the case with almost every Pakistani militry men.
I just want certain comments from u, if u could spare some time and at the same time i must say i want to extend a hand of friendship to u. Just reply me following
a. Struggle for an independent pakistan started from Dacca and more so it was started by a bengali
b. We stayed together for quite a long time together.
c. Follies were committed from both sides East and West Pakistan leadership and they people never gave a chance to us, the younger generation to interact and solve their problems.
d. Why we always spread hatred now, even u have got ur free country.
e. I normally go through all the papers concerning East Pakistan crises and i always found a hatred towards Pakistan Army from u my bengali brothers. Why.
f. i m from the same Pakistan, i have done nothing to u. Granted my forefarthers must have done something, well i seek apologies on their behalf because i cannot do any thing at this time except for seeking apologies.
g. why cant we forget those follies which were committed by my forefarthers as well as ur forefarthers.
h. Why cant we recognize our joint enemy who want further break up any of the muslim state in her neighbour hood. why cant we stop this theme of hatred and seek love and affection for each other. U must be quite elder than me, at least u can give a chance to ur kids( who must be of my age or may be younger than me) to think and take some good steps towards the improvement of relations, instead of spreading hatred.
j. i hope u will not mind all this. At least i feel very bad whenever i listen something about my great Pakistan and my greatest Pakistan army. And that too from a muslim of former East Pakistan. why cant we unite and take some step towards reconciliation.

PLEASE DONOT MIND IF U FELT SOMETHING BECAUSE THESE ARE THE FEELINGS OF A TRUE AND DIE HARD SOLDIER OF PAKISTANI MUSLIM ARMY AND FROM A DOWN TO EARTH A PATRIOTIC PAKISTANI. "
I SHALL BE LOOKING FORWARD FOR UR REPLY.:cheers::cheers::cheers:

I am in complete agreement with you.

Except for Barrister Munshi [and a few like him], no patriotic Bangladeshi citizen holds ill-will towards India

My neighbour's ancestral home is in Comilla

Last December, they went on a month long trip to Bangladesh [Dhaka, Comilla and Sylhet]

Returning home they over over-flowing with tales of genuine love, hospitality and affection that the people of Bangladesh had for them. According to them [neighbours], the people in Bangladesh spoke in the most endearing terms about India and Indians
[According to them, the people of Bangladesh also spoke with the most venomus words while talking about their former Western counterparts from whom they achieved independence in 1971]

Whatever Barrister Munshi tries to spread, India-Bangladesh love and friendship will never be broken.

I also know for certain that Barrister Munshi will never ever win an election in Bangladesh
