Pakistan has many ethnic groups, but the largest 4 are Punjabis, Pakhtuns, Sindhis, and Baloch. The percentage of Pakhtuns, SIndhis, and Baloch you have in India are irrevelant (combined these ethnic groups make less than 1% of India's population). Punjabis make less than 4% of India's population. More than 95% of India's population are nothing like Pakistan's major ethnic groups. Even if you take Religion out of this, Pakistanis are different from the vast majority of Indians so I dont know why Indians like Rama Lakshmi say we are united by this and that, we are not united.

Omar bro, you are right we are only 4-5% of India's population. But doesnt matter to what extent every Central government of India tried to demotivate us with state sponsored terrorism, with its river water stealing policies and sharing of energy production plants and joint capital city of Chandigarh. We have contributed 10x more than any state, not only to Indians but Globally too.

Anyways, both the author Karin and the contributor from India are AMERICANS.

Fact remains that there is informal trade through smuggling between India and Pakistan and both will benefit if trade will liberalise. The people of Pakistan mainly the traders want it as they would not have to illegally smuggle Indian products from Afghanistan.

Trade IS happening between India and Pakistan. But while India Afghanistan and other countries in the pipeline are legally trading and charing custom duties on exports/imports. GoP is losing duties do to smuggling with Afghanistan.
