India, Afghanistan plan air cargo link over Pakistan

Which is? Shoot down these plane?
Given the sanctity of your name, you shouldn't troll or make stupid comments. But nonetheless you do, and trolls like your comments.

Sad miserable existence, I must say.

the most expensive type of cargo is air to air. India can probably sell certain things through air to air but what is Afghanistan going to send back that is going to warrant paying air to air cargo fares ?

What happened to Chabahar? I wonder Afghanistan boosted recently a lot about no more being landlocked and depended on Pakistan blackmailing for sea use ..What they will not tell us that IRAN "NEVER" allow Afghanistan to transit trade through its seas..This chahabar is the first time.....

This deal is to transfer basic commodities like food, medicines to Afghanistan and imports from Afghanistan... But this guy wants " give an amicable response"

For what? And what he is suggesting to do amicably?

Pakistan should take a aggressive posture towards Afghanistan, They are good at double crossing & playing around.. We have once Closed Our Airspace to Indian Registered Aircrafts from overflying, which actually did made an impact to the aviation sector in India...
Our Airlines do use indian airspace, but we have another option of flying over China & enter Asia either Thailand, Malaysia, HK with ease.. Not an issue for US...

India, Afghanistan plan air cargo link over Pakistan

AMRITSAR: India and Afghanistan are likely to announce an air cargo service on Saturday to help increase trade that both say is stymied because of their tense political relations with Pakistan that lies between them.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi were meeting in the northern Indian city of Amritsar, a short distance from the Pakistan border, for the Heart of Asia conference aimed at stabilising Afghanistan.

Nuclear-armed India and Pakistan have gone to war three times and remain bitter foes while ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan have become strained despite their shared religious and cultural identities.

Officials say the focus of the air cargo service is to improve landlocked Afghanistan’s connectivity to key markets abroad and boost the growth prospects of its fruit and carpet industries while it battles a deadly Taliban insurgency.

India offers $1 bn in fresh aid to Afghanistan

Afghanistan depends on the Pakistani port of Karachi for its foreign trade. It is allowed to send a limited amount of goods overland through Pakistan into India, but imports from India are not allowed along this route.

Afghan director general for macro fiscal policies Khalid Payenda said the potential for trade with India, the largest market in the region, was far greater than allowed by land and so the two countries had decided to use the air route.

“That would be air cargo between Afghanistan and India. We have a lot of potential for trade on both sides. On our side, it’s mostly fruit and dried fruit and potentially through India to other places for products like carpets and others.”

He said that a joint venture involving an Afghan and an Indian cargo firm would be set up and that the two governments were working to set up infrastructure at Kabul and Delhi airports.

An Indian government source attending the meeting in Amritsar said air cargo route details were still being worked out and could include Kandahar as a point of origin for shipping fruit directly to India.

Indian foreign ministry official Gopal Baglay, who oversees Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran, said several proposals were being discussed to improve Afghanistan’s trade and transport links.

“There have been very many ideas on how to enhance connectivity, overcome current challenges and also expand the trade basket,” he said. Pakistan’s top foreign policy adviser, Sartaj Aziz, will be attending the conference on Sunday.

Ties with India have deteriorated further in recent months after a series of attacks on Indian military bases in the disputed region of Kashmir, which New Delhi says have either been carried out by militants sneaking in from Pakistan or orchestrated by groups based there.

Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan join India in withdrawing from SAARC summit in Pakistan

Pakistan denies stoking violence in Kashmir and says India must open talks on the future of the revolt-torn Muslim majority region. Indian officials said no talks with Pakistan were scheduled on the sidelines of the Amritsar conference.

Afghanistan’s ties with Pakistan have also become strained after a series of violent attacks, several of them in the capital Kabul, that it said showed Pakistan had failed to rein in the militant groups operating from its soil.

“Unless we take a collective measure to fight terrorism, to fight the breeding ground for terrorism, the safe sanctuary, we will not be able to bring peace and stability either to Afghanistan or to anywhere else in the region, including India,” said Afghan ambassador to India Shaida M. Abdali.

Pakistan says it is itself a victim of terrorism and says India is using its close ties with Afghanistan to stir trouble in its restive Baluchistan province.
Without GOP NOC nothing would happened. If NS is doing something from back door then something else. Calling a shots between NS vs COAS.

Can you read? Seems not. Just another dumb troll. Read all my posts on this very thread, and then try to comprehend what I wrote.

I still don't see why are you guys making such a big fuss? You dont allow Afghanistan and India to do trade via land, so we make an air corridor, that simple.to do commerce.

Stop with this looking after us part, you did what you thought was in your interest period.
Go and use Iran route ,if Pak is your enemy state , why u want to use our land for this purpose ?

I do remember during Musharraf's time, India blocked Indian airspace for Pakistani Origin Traffic, and it turned into a nightmare for India.
Yes that is true.
Pakistani Airline flights thay flying over India are less as compared to Indian Airlines.

Both you Gentlemen, and other respectable forum members might be interested in knowing that there is NOT a single airline from Afghanistan, that is allowed in European airspace, due to safety reasons. Pakistan could enforce the same requirement for using it's airspace.
European Safety Agency (EASA) is based on the European Convention on Human Rights which was created after the Egyptian disaster which killed many European Citizens.

EASA is tasked to carry out random checks of international airlines that operate to european destinations as well as monitor activities of accident and incident reports of these airlines. They are also keeping record of ICAO Audits of Civil Aviation Authorities across the world. These Audits are done by ICAO and are mandatory to evaluate the standards of Civil Aviation Activities all over the world.

Pakistan can restrict Indian Operators provided they fail the ICAO Audits.

If you remember PIA was banned to operate flights to Europe in 2007 and GCAA wanted to impose the same. GCAA could not impose this ban on the basis of EASA hence ICAO had to initiate Mandatory Safety Audits.

Slight correction, EASA is also tasked with any airline using European airspace, not just European destinations. So since all Afghani airlines are banned in European airspace, Pakistan does have leverage.

Air cargo will break the Indian economy it's not only expensive but where it is going they can't afford t that's why richest countries who can afford air cargo don't use it

Pakistan should not allow it's air space for cargo services let cargo planes take longer route which will effect more on Indian economy fact is neither Afghanistan is growing economy which can sustain if even it sustain than its all major resources will be eaten to pay for cargo flights if india pays it it will break Indian back in matter of months

So since all Afghani airlines are banned in European airspace

The same reason cannot be ignored and can be considered except our good will gesture but on other hand, whenever it comes to sort of such operation or buying by Pakistan, people tend to bring the so-called Money/economy factor w.r.t. affordability but the real thing is what happened to the question in-case of Afghanistan which is prominent of its economical condition.
