India, Afghanistan plan air cargo link over Pakistan

Afghanistan is a mineral rich country and and will play a major role in boosting economy of exporting nations. Countries like China needs Afghanistan's raw material to boost their manufacturing sector. I think if only Afghanistan was making wiser decisions and sided with China, their economy would have been in much better shape by now. It is their choice if they want to maintain better relationship with India, they will just progress slowly but will ultimately prosper in the right direction
Sir, the reality is their government has been planted by the US. How can we expect such a government to make decisions that benefit their country? It is really sad to see such a proud nation held at ransom by corrupt stooges of a foreign occupier.

yes , they have begin from somewhere but not by starting with selling themself...

if they have coal....put coal base power plants and strat with coal locomotives in railway...once electric generation pick up , move to electric locomotives....
I am not sure if they have coal or not, but they surely have Gold

Afghanistan is also very suitable place for world's largest Lithion-ion factory due to abundance of such resources

The bottom line is, they have to begin from somewhere and mineral resources of Afghanistan can play a pivotal role in boosting their economy and self reliance

firstly the airspace usage has to get agreed in form of agreement by the country
NO

Chicago Convention 1944 is signed by both Pakistan and India which covers usage of airspace.

and using Pakistan airspace, Pakistani authorities reserves the right to force land any flight for inspection :crazy_pilot:
Yes, This can be done.

Still this is a difficult and costly process. Moreover what ever procedue one country follows the other would reply in kind.

LOL.. PAKISTAN WONT ALLOW TO USE ITS AIR SPACE
ek bar CROSS TO to KArke dikhao INDIANS....

It is just a publicity gimmick of Indian government to ease the pressure of closure of exports and land transit through Pakistan.

Cargo Aircraft can overfly Pakistan but are expensive, hence the cost of Indian products would be increased, which could reduce the exports as cheaper alternates would be available from other markets.

I did not get the logic.

But I do know that Afghanistan was allowed limited quantity to be exported overland.

I still don't see why are you guys making such a big fuss? You dont allow Afghanistan and India to do trade via land, so we make an air corridor, that simple.to do commerce.

Stop with this looking after us part, you did what you thought was in your interest period.

We dont want indian to pump ttp goons in our country through afghanistan and surely we wont let them use our land & air space for that .

Yes, part was self interest. But it was mostly solidarity with fellow Muslims. Pakistani TV and media were full of support for common Afghans and there were even tv dramas/plays in the 80's about the plight of ordinary Afghans.

But no other country so stupidly should have allowed millions of extremely backward, drug-dealing, weapon-carrying people in and then allowed them to spread all over Pakistan.

I know some of these things first hand. We had even hired Afghan workers in my family textile factory in Karachi. I remember a hunch-backed Afghan laborer toiling in the heat in the factory in the 80's. He was a teen ager like me. His plight brought tears to my eyes and the huge gap between him and me; and so I begged my father to give the guy a raise in salary, which my now-deceased father did quickly.

The common Pakistani DID treat Afghan refugees with true compassion.

And you modern-day Afghans--listen, I can see some of your POVs. But the fact is that a common Indian has no real connection with you on an emotional level. Check out various Indian blogs about Muslims in general. But you are oh-so-cocky on the internet because of, currently, Uncle Sam's largesse and Indian 'investment' in you.

My advice: Milk the Yanks and the Indians while you can but don't lose sight of who would be your real and natural allies when the wind has done scattering and settling the straws. Don't be too cocky.

@The Eagle

The only thing Pakistan has to watch out is smuggling. There is a very small economy present in Afghanistan. Most of their population is too poor and dislocated to become a proper market. Most of the goods Afghanistan import are "duty free".
Many of Afghan government officials and warlords are involved in this. These duty free goods find their way into Pakistan through various smuggling routes.
Some years back there was a report on Afghan transit trade and its associated smuggling.
They picked up examples of few goods like LCDs and tyres.
Afghanistan imported more then 50000 LCDs. It is a strange and ridiculously large number for a country like Afghanistan. It was clearly an example of parallel economy via smuggling.
Other was of tyres, if all the cars and trucks registered in Afghanistan change their tyres every day, even then the number of tyres imported by Afghanistan are more then that..

When Pakistan tries to put duties on Afghan transit trade goods so to secure itself from this huge loss, Afghans cry wolf,,,
Open the route for Indians, see what will happen. The goods which are now smuggled via Dubai will reach direct;y from Amritsar. Result will be disastrous for already ailing industry of Pakistan.

So these are very sensitive issue for Pakistan economy. Sadly our government and bureaucracy is not capable to tackle this matter. Their should be restrictions and duty mechanism as such, which will leave smuggled goods not capable to penetrate Pakistan market. After that open Indian-Afghan trade, then you will see the red faces of Indians and Afghans.
One other issue is our porous border with Afghanistan.

Time window is getting shorter for us. We will have to get our acts together real fast, if we want to be on winning side in this economic war.

Not denying the feelings of the common Pakistanis, but you do know the commoners are just a bunch of goats being herded by the elites and the in the upper echelons of the establishemtns. It was in your interest to to spin that Afghans are brothers because you needed them to bleed the soviets. The same Afghans are now drug dealers when the establishment has spun it otherwise.

Bottom line, there is no morality in geopolitics, you used Afghans because it was in your interest, the commoners may no ulterior motives but its not the commoners that in the driving seat of the policy making in Pakistan, is it ? :)

We will milk the US, India, Israel, Pakistan .... China and whoever which serves our interests [realpolitik], it is not being cocky it is being in tune in how the world works.

You still are going to fly over us or some other route? What if we ask to stop using our airspace, what than?
we stop your access to Nepal . Srilanka , and E asian countries , take longer route.....via china .....

No. You used us to defeat the Soviets and parasite the Pakistani nation.

Pakistan must accept the fact that Afghanistan has become apart of Hindustan. Afghanistan is a province of New Delhi and Afghans should not call themselves an independent nation. Mr Ghani and his predecessor Mr Karzai have always wanted a special union and merger with Hindustan.
and the leaders before them. Nothing new. Have a look at following thread:

I do remember during Musharraf's time, India blocked Indian airspace for Pakistani Origin Traffic, and it turned into a nightmare for India.

@Windjammer @ACE OF THE AIR and other members?

thank you for information, if you are referring to this document i.e. Chicago Convention 1944 i did not found the signatory of Pakistani representative, may be i missed?

Both you Gentlemen, and other respectable forum members might be interested in knowing that there is NOT a single airline from Afghanistan, that is allowed in European airspace, due to safety reasons. Pakistan could enforce the same requirement for using it's airspace.
