Establishment has a nuclear bogeyman with which it can blackmail everyone and their mother. It seems Pakistan military leadership and judiciary have got themselves off the hook.
Politicians seem to have stuck.
If transferring assets to friends or family is done overseas there are companies that specialize in finding out. The question that should be asked is what percentage of the wealth is inside and what percentage is outside Pakistan? It shouldn't be too hard fudging and concealing assets though, they could still launder money onto their families name even while being a grade 17 - 22 officer.
Real solution is to kick the corrupt haram khors out entirely. Capital punishment should be implemented for corruption cases that exceed a certain amount.
You are asking too much of a Pakistan (which is by the way ruled by corrupt people itself, so why would it go to these lengths?) which cannot even do very simply forms of governance. If transferring assets to friends or family is done overseas there are companies that specialize in finding out. Don't think this is a hard demand of the IMF but one that we absolutely should implement.
All for government provided assets of civil and military officials to be transparently available.
I’m saying if assets are hidden in the US, there are companies that can find out.You are asking too much of a Pakistan (which is by the way ruled by corrupt people itself, so why would it go to these lengths?) which cannot even do very simply forms of governance.
They can't even construct properly designed roads and underpasses without creating accident hotspots due to pure stupidity. The entire country is literally being ruined in every possible sector you can think of.
The people governing this country are about as competent as some 15 year olds.
At least what the government allots will be on paper and people won't be so wide-eyed about what is granted to BPS-20 and upwards. Maybe the disclosures will result in some changes. On neechay ki kamai, no different than what goes on in the west with offshore wealth. Very hard to track that down.In a land where nearly everyone has two (even three) sets of books and declarations, what good will that do?
Which officers are you talking about?IF this is the case and I mean IF. then that is favorable to Pakistan! What would be the proverbial cherry on the cake if all of these officers no longer receive perks and privileges, 0 privileges. NO medical overseas, NO education of children overseas, NO retirement overseas.
ALL relationships under watch especially marriages of convenience. an eye must be kept on the families of these officers.

so how does a brigadier(navy captain) sends his 2 kids on international tuition to us, whereas my dad (from pia, semi govt) could not send me alone on reduced tuition. this is personal experience. the khakis/blues/whites have their ways.Which officers are you talking about?
I hope people realize that military makes a fraction of the people in a sea of government bureaucracy upon which government largess is bestowed.
The entire military has no more than 500 BPS-21/22 officers (Maj Gen - Lt Gen and including PN and PAF officers of the same rank). The rest of our bureaucracy has a few thousand more. I don't think the government pays for anyone's education, medical or retirement "overseas".
If someone needs acute medical attention offered only overseas then that decision is made on a case by case basis. There is no "khula khata" for all officials getting these benefits overseas. Its expensive enough to offer them their benefits in-country.
ISLAMABAD – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has asked the Pakistan to develop a system to make the assets owned by the government officers of grade 17-22 public, it emerged on Thursday.
The demand from the global lender comes as an IMF delegation is visiting the South Asian country to hold talks with the government on ninth review of the $7 billion loan programme stalled since September 2022.
Reports said the IMF had demanded the government to set up an authority and an electronic asset declaration system to public the assets held by the Pakistani bureaucrats in and outside the country.
It also said the officers should also be made bound to submit details of their assets while applying for opening a bank account, adding that such measure would ensure transparency and accountability in the country.

I think we need MBS solution - round up all the generals and their tutifruiti politicians and get them to give up the billions. Then public should decide if these thieves must meet the shariah punishment - chop hands off...Isnt this ironic.
The politicians made the people think IMF works for the devil and its a cursed monster and all.
But in reality IMF cares more about the people of Pakistan than this current Government does.
Asking for transparency, the same thing the people have been asking for decades now.
Way you go IMF..
