If those 27s were that good in being multi role then why China and India went to buy 30s? There are limitations even with upgrades of 27s. 30s have better air frame and can house 35s tech in it. With 35s engines 30s will be much better plane and will not need canards like Indian MKIs.

Yes. But canards are good thing. Also, I would like to tell you that Su-27s with upgrades comes similar to any latest thing as you can house Avionics even of a Raptor or a SU-35 in any plane. Also, the engines are already good and you can just upgrade them for better performance with FADEC and other things.

So, with all the upgrades and may be a unit cost with training of $35 Million per piece it would a be a nice bet for PN to acquire at least 100 of them to guard the coast better 24/7 with MPA and UAVs.

Su-27 have old air frame design while from Su-30s the air frame is upgraded gradually and why would we go for basic model when Su-30/35 can be possibility. Russian air frames have lesser age then western ones so going for older model i.e. Su-27 is mere stupidity, it will be better to go for Su-30 specific model if going after used Russian jets.

But the fact is PAF never bought any jet from Russia directly.

Buying a brand new jet means logistics, setting up infrastructure for maintenance and its operation, training of staff and also new weapons. So buying a few Su-35 will be a huge expense.

Also Su-35 is a twin jet and PAF always had been reluctant buying a twin jet.

I know that

It is said Russians were ready for TOT of Mig-35 if Pakistan is interested but Pakistan have showed interest in Su-30 (without canards) & Su-35s. Things are slowly materializing for Pakistan and time will tell how much closer military relations between Russia & Pakistan will go.

Even currently MKI has better jamming and EW capability than Su-35 & Lightening Pods also gives MKI Edge in its overall operational capabilities and both have same IRST Sensor OLS-35
Only things were MKI Lacks is Radar and Engine Modified frame of Su-35
