Poland’s WB Group will be focusing visitor attention on its command and control (C2) and strike technologies during IDEX 2019 in Abu Dhabi next week.

FONET – a modular, scalable C2 systems, first fielded in 2008 and since integrated onto more than 6,000 vehicles worldwide. FONET allows for digital voice communications and data exchange between multiple vehicle crews and forms the basis for building complex battlefield management systems.

WARMATE – a loitering munition designed to support dynamic combat environments, with a range of mission-specific payloads including surveillance, detection, target recognition, anti-materiel and anti-personnel, to include HE and fragmentation warheads. WARMATE can be operated by small units or as a part of the company’s battlefield management and fire control solution (the TOPAZ Battlefield Overwatch Strike Capability – which will also be on display), in concert with direct and indirect fire platforms and infantry.

Representatives from the parent group in Poland and its US company will be on hand to explain the company’s wide range of capabilities.

IDEX 2019 : Arnold Defense displays Fletcher laser guided rocket launcher

17 FEBRUARY 2019

Arnold Defense, the Saint Louis-based manufacturer of 2.75-inch rocket launchers, is showcasing the Fletcher laser- guided rocket launcher. The Fletcher 2.75-inch/70mm weapon system is mounted on NIMR’s Ajban Long Range Special Operations Vehicle (LRSOV) on Stand Number 05-A05.

Arnold's Fletcher at IDEX 2019, United Arab Emirates

Arnold Defense’s Fletcher weapon system, first unveiled in 2017 at London’s DSEi Exhibition, has completed rigorous test-firing protocols, with laser target designation from both ground and air platforms, and is now in initial production. With Fletcher, Arnold Defense has made a bold departure from the traditional concept of use for 2.75-inch rocket systems; that of an area suppression weapon ordinarily delivered by aviation assets. Arnold’s evolution has Fletcher using advanced rocket-guidance technology to utilize ground-based launch platforms, meeting the demands of modern, vehicle-mounted and dismounted asymmetric warfare.

Fletcher’s unique design allows for ease of operation, maintenance and sustainment. It employs an existing suite of guidance modules, rockets and warheads, already used in well-known programs and readily available to global forces. Fletcher recently successfully completed a four-round live firing using multiple airborne laser platforms, confirming the ability to use laser designation from ground and air from various angles and offsets to a distance nearly 6km.

Following exceptional levels of interest expressed in Fletcher, Arnold Defense is also developing a number of supplementary ground and maritime-based concepts. These exciting new concepts will expand Fletcher’s utility into the arena of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV), naval and littoral platforms. It his anticipated that the first of these integrated systems will be unveiled within months.

Fletcher is supported by a team of global defense industry companies, collaborating under Arnold Defense’s leadership to combine their complimentary expertise. The team is able to provide a full-system approach to Fletcher; incorporating design, validation, testing, manufacture and full-system integration within a wide range of ground-to-ground engagement scenarios.

Jim Hager, President and CEO of Arnold Defense said “Since launching Fletcher, Arnold Defense has exhibited the system widely on the international market, where it has garnered significant interest, especially from military special operations units. Our rocket launchers are already well-established internationally on airborne platforms, so transitioning into the land and marine environments with Fletcher has been a natural progression and will provide these forces with a completely new capability.”

He added: “Exhibiting Fletcher in partnership with NIMR Automotive demonstrates the wide scope and utility of our concept and we look forward to maximizing the opportunities that IDEX 2019 is offering to establish and deepen relationships with regional government departments, defense and security agencies and international businesses.”

IDEX: NIMR AUTOMOTIVE LAUNCHES AJBAN 447A

NIMR Automotive launches its latest vehicle, the AJBAN 447A, at IDEX. The vehicle will be form part of the display on the Emirates Defence Industries Company (EDIC) stand – NIMR’s parent company.

A multi-role armoured vehicle, the AJBAN 447A is designed for use in a wide range of specialist military roles, offering high levels of survivability, mobility and firepower. It is a forward-facing seven crew (2+5) military tactical vehicle featuring a highly configurable armoured cabin designed for roles with tactical response, border patrol, reconnaissance, counter-insurgency and special forces teams. It offers a modular design, featuring scalable levels of ballistic, mine-blast and IED protection based on a conventional powertrain layout. The independent suspension system provides excellent ride comfort and handling characteristics, even in the most difficult terrain.

In addition to the driver and commander, the 4x4’s optimised internal layout provides five dismounts seated on individual blast-attenuating seats. Four doors provide ease of ingress and egress. The large ballistic-protected windscreen and side windows offer excellent all-round situational awareness. The 447A’s ergonomics provide high levels of crew comfort, thereby reducing fatigue during extended operations. These considerations extend beyond crew comfort; providing easy vehicle access and offering space for mission-specific, or user-defined, controls and instrumentation.

This highly adaptable platform can be configured to meet a variety of end-user mission requirements through the integration of various mission equipment and systems and also provides a compact, low-profile platform without compromising on protection, internal volume and capability. At IDEX the vehicle will be displayed with the Platt M550 weapon mount, Dillon Aero’s Minigun and Lacroix’s Automated Obscurance System (AOS).

Building on NIMR’s reputation of outstanding manoeuvrability, the AJBAN 447A excels across all terrains and diverse operational environments, supporting a wide range of mission requirements. This 4x4 complements our existing range, allowing NIMR to expand beyond our current 4-crew light-to-medium weight vehicle configuration into an increased crew capacity with multi-role capability,” stated NIMR Automotive General Manager, Ali Al Mansoori.

The vessel, called AHM13USV, is a product of Al Marakeb's recent collaboration with long-standing Emirati boat-builder Al Hareb Marine.

A UAE-based maritime company, Al Marakeb, hosted a live demonstration of its 13m armed unmanned surface vessel (USV) at the Naval Defence and Maritime Security Exhibition (Navdex) on Monday.

The shipping container on display at Al Marakeb's stand at Navdex - which runs with the International Defence Exhibition till February 21 - hosted a command-and-control station that operated the vessel situated in Ghantoot, 70km away from the event site.

The vessel, called AHM13USV, is a product of Al Marakeb's recent collaboration with long-standing Emirati boat-builder Al Hareb Marine.

Treating visitors to a first-hand experience of maritime technology, the team at the Navdex station remotely controlled the vessel using the MAP Pro Autonomous Technology.

The MAP Pro system runs engine diagnostics, route management, a live camera feed, radar screens and an obstacle warning alarm in real time. Notably, it showcases a live operation of the STAMP gun mounted on the vessel and provided through Al Marakeb's alliance with IGG ASELSAN.

The latest USV technologies on show at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre all support Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, which, in part, aims to bolster the economy and the defence sector.

"Al Marakeb's participation in this year's Navdex serves to demonstrate the true power of working together with leading forces to combine technologies that ultimately place the UAE in the global arena of unmanned technologies," said Nour Al Sayyed, chief operating officer, Al Marakeb.

"Our display at Navdex is a prime example of our company's innovative culture, which thrives on excellence and diversity."

The company also presented the AHM11USV, a new 11m addition to its fleet, making a debut at Navdex.

The USV consisted of the boat and propulsion system, the patented MAP Pro autonomous conversion kit, and the rocket launcher-MILAS by IGG Aselsan.

The LMM Missile Launching System - developed for defence against surface and aerial threats - is a customised solution for different naval platforms, such as fast interceptor crafts, patrol boats and corvettes.
