Could be goof up with DNA samples not sure why, Ajmal is live and kicking Pakistan can any time request counselor access to him instead of crying foul.:undecided:

.
There indeed could have been a mixup in the samples, if Pakistan's position is correct, then that does not automatically imply some conspiracy on the part of India.

.
It would be a good start.

We need to start from some point.....and the mumbai attacks would have been good.
Why wait for another attack before a pak-india-interpol team can be set up.
We have to build trust from some point to move forward on all issues and get peace.

I doubt they let officials take samples away with them after consular access.

He pointed out that the DNA samples provided by India for Ajmal and Ismail, a terrorist killed in Mumbai, were identical and there was only a one-in-a-trillion chance of this happening in the case of twins. Therefore, a clarification had been sought from India, he said.

India should provide the information sought by Pakistan “as quickly as possible” as Islamabad wanted to bring the terrorists responsible for the attacks to justice.

I think its a fair clarification and india must answer in a transparent way thru Interpol. Infact Interpol or FBI should supply their own samples or test results to Pakistan after doing the same testing on the relatives of Kasab and Co. wherever they are.

FBI has more details than India has.

Mumbai, February 09, 2009
An FBI team earlier visited Mumbai soon after the attacks to carry out forensic tests and take DNA samples of Kasab.

Why do you think so, With Counselor access request for in-person DNA required for matching can also made through official channel and the same can be provided.

DNA report issue 'minor clerical error', says Chidambaram

DNA report issue 'minor clerical error', says Chidambaram
Mumbai (PTI): Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday said the possible goof-up in sending identical DNA reports of terrorists involved in 26/11 attack in Mumbai was a "non-issue" and a "minor clerical error".

"Pakistan no longer denies that Mohammed Ajmal Kasab and Abu Ismail (the two terrorists involved in the Mumbai terror strikes) were its nationals," Mr. Chidambaram said alluding that the goof-up may have occurred because the same photocopies of the report might have been sent.

He also ruled out setting up a commission of inquiry into the 26/11 attack.

"This is a minor clerical error which can be corrected.

Kasab is still alive. His DNA can be taken again while a dead man's DNA is required only to know who the father or mother is," he said.

While Kasab is the lone gunman captured alive in the 26/11 attack, Ismail
was among the nine terrorists killed in the operation by commandos.

The media reports had said that in a dossier sent to Pakistan the DNA reports of arrested terrorist Mohammed Ajmal Kasab and the slain terrorist Abu Ismail were identical.

DNA reports of both Ismail and Kasab are with the Mumbai police, Mr. Chidambaram said, adding that there was no need for commission of enquiry for 26/11 attack.

Can India afford such clerical mistakes in a seriouse terrorist attack like Mumbai ?

Howcome this clerical mistake was done?

Can a clerical mistake lead to similarity of two DNAs?

Isnt it that specimens should of these DNAs should be different whereas clerical mistakes are i think in written stuff.

Isnt it?

.
Clerical error - its been admitted by the GoI, and I am sure they will rectify it, and hopefully the process of building a case against the alleged perpetrators in Pakistan will continue

I believe this thread has outlived its utility at this point.
