hello all

I was watching ary news recently and they showed a weapon of POF display it was called something like i-pof gun. so does anyone know details about this weapon?

same here! i was surprised how smooth the entry was. maybe on the 1st two days there was a lot of VVIP movement.

Did you stay for the Mobility Display sir? That was some fancy tank work there by the Al-Khalid and Al-Zarrar and Saads...

Still there were like 3 Levels of security! Thats alot !!!

yes and under these crazy times, it is required. better sure than sorry!

I greatly appreciated the security too, but I was surprised at the number of civilians who turned up though...most of them didn't seem to know much about the weapons at display. They were more concerned about taking mobile pictures of themselves holding guns or grinning infront of manikins.;)

IDEAS 2008 helps secure orders worth $40 million

KARACHI ( 2008-11-28 20:01:52 ) :The 5th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2008 was a big success as private exhibitors have secured supply orders worth $40 million.

The event has also helped country reach broad understanding with 11 serious buyers for the sale of arms and ammunition, said Director General Defence Export Promotion Organisation (DEPO) Maj Gen Mohammad Farooq in a press briefing here on Friday.

He alongwith Minister for Defence Production Abdul Qayyum Jatoi, State Minister for Defence Production Sardar Saleem Haider and Secretary Defence Production Lt Gen Shahid Siddiq Tirmzey (retd) was responding to queries raised by journalists at Karachi Expo Centre.

He said that overwhelming response was received from foreign exhibitors and delegates at the 5th IDEAS. This event has not only enhanced the image in the outside world but also nullified the security concerns about Pakistan.

He also thanked Karachiites for showing hospitality to the exhibitors and visitors of IDEAS 2008.

Secretary Defence Production said that 275 JF-17 thunder jet will be handed over to Pakistan Air Force after the completion of testing phase.

"We have received so many queries for the purchase of these jets and more than 800 JF-17 will be exported to eight countries after meeting domestic requirements," he said mentioning that once negotiations were materialized, the export of JF-17 could go beyond 800 units, he added.

These aircrafts are produced under a technical collaboration with China and are also marketed under a joint venture with China, he said.

Gen Trimzey (retd) said that the growth of defence production industry in Pakistan has ended the monopoly of western countries.

POF showcases Four new products at ideas08
ISLAMABAD, Nov 28 (APP): Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Wah has launched 4 new products during IDEAS‑2008 being held at Expo center Karachi.
These new products are: POF eye, 9MM Pistol Pk‑9, Shot Gun Pk‑12 and Rifle PK‑10 (7.62 MM caliber).
IDEAS‑2008 was a successful event for POF. Chairman POF Board Lt. Gen. Syed Sabahat Husain on this occasion expressed the hope that showcase of POF products at IDEAS‑2008 will bring lucrative business for POF and earn foreign exchange through export of POF Products will help support the country’s economy.

POF Chairman told that Pakistan Ordnance Factories is fully capable to meet the requirements of the Armed Forces of Pakistan in terms of Arms & ammunition. POF Chairman said that we participate in all major defence exhibitions which are held in various parts of the world. No doubt, IDEAS 2008 was a mega event in Pakistan and we participated in this international defence exhibition by showcasing our full range of products and it also provided us an opportunity to launch our four new products.

He hoped that the response would be very positive and we will succeed to catch new customers.

POF Chairman felicitated Defence Export Promotion organization for arranging such a mega event and complements their continuing efforts in further enhancing our Defence Industry’s export potential.

He said that these efforts will go a long way in highlighting the export of defence related products and thus giving Pakistan’s leading role in the region. He wished them success in their endeavours.

A huge number of foreign delegates visited POF Stall during the course of IDEAS‑2008. They all took keen interest in new Product “POF eye” and were very impressed with the high standard and quality of POF products.

Chairman POF Board Lt. Gen. Syed Sabahat Husain remained at POF Stall from the first day to the end of IDEAS‑2008 and kept briefing to the visiting foreign as well as local delegates about POF products.
