IAF looks to replace crashed Mirage fighter jets

They have many options from Muslim World as well:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qatar_Air_Force:12
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egyptian_Air_Force:18
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Arab_Emirates_Air_Force:68

If not wrong than all of them are available for sale, I think Qatar wants to have a cheap fighter like JF-17 block-IIs or IIIs and even Egypt too and UAE want Rafael/EF-2000 or may be some more F-16s or even Chinese or Russian 5th or 4.5th Generation like J-10BS

Qatar certainly won't go for a cheap fighter. Everything about them these days is about showing off how much money they have.

Besides, they have become very ambitious.

Peru and Brazil can also buy these jets and Qatar will going to see it closely(JF-17IIs) and then it will go for it. If they had to show off why not Air Force based on AEW&C and UCAVs along with MPAs other stuff, why just 12 fighter???

Qatar has no intention to go for cheap aircraft, they only want American/European fighters, regardless
even if the Eastern counterparts are better or not.

Egypt is only keen on more F-16s that they already operate, the pro-US ME countries are not gonna
buy any Chinese/Russian jets, cuz US won't allow that.

isn't there an old report that stated that India wants to buy second hand Mirazes from Quatar???what happened??amyway,if we have to buy,we should buy from France...

MIRAGE 2000 IS AN EXCELLENT AIRCRAFT:cool:

IAF should buy atleast 20 more of these, even if second-hand doesn't matter because we're gonna
upgrade them to the MIRAGE 2000-5 MK-II standard anyway:)

Lovin' it:smitten:

Lets bail out Greece by buying there Mirage.

That is actually a good option, Greece is desperate for cash..and it wont mind selling off a squadron of its Mirage 2000's which are in similar condition to the IAF existing fleet.. and would not need to be stripped down as such to be refitted as 2000-9s.
The 332 Mira of the HAF has a squadron strength of M2K B's and E's.. which have not been upgraded..and would be a good cheap buy.
A better option could be its sister units which are already equipped with M2K-5's.

Qatar will probably end up going for the EF.. .the Brits have a lot more pull there compared to the French now..
However.. at the moment, it seems to be concentrating on economic expansion to compete with Dubai..
So the military buildup will wait.

There are always the French jets.. although the airframe condition will have to be inspected by the IAF thoroughly.

Whatever became of UAEAF Mirage-2000s, once reported, India as the potential buyer. ??

At the time, India was growing at 9% and did not want to dabble in 2nd hand goods.. May make a good option now

Guys lets be clear- the IAF is only looking to buy 2 M2k TRAINERS to REPLACE te 2 that crashed earlier this year- it is NOT looking to expand the M2k fleet that is unessercary given the Rafale deal. Now if 2 single seat fighters had crashed then maybe the IAF wouldn't be looking to purchase 2 extra single seat fighters but the issue at hand is that both crashes this ear were of trainers and that is serious because having a shortage of trainers has an immediate and serious detrimental effect on the entire Mirage fleet if the pilots have not got the apportiaprote skills and ability to fly the Mirages. This ismamserious issue and this is why the IAF is sensibly looking to buy replacements ASAP.

Eventually the Mirages will replaced by other filters be it the MKI,FGFA,,AMCA etc but that is atleast a decade away and until that time it is not safe to have a shortage of trainers. A very good move by the IAF IMHO and I'm glad to see they are being sensible and not be star struck by fancy new FGFA or Rafales toys but keeping a good eye on the entire fleets, same goes for the recent Jag UPG deal.

How about ordering more Rafales so that we don't have to buy again?

That's the point and why neither additional Rafale, LCA MK1, or MKIs are a solution here, because none of them can train Mirage 2000 pilots.
