“I live in India but my heart is in Israel”

.
The jews of Ondia can write to the israeli Government...
But they are a bit choosy i suppose....
The chances are slim that "The motherland" will accept them.
This is due to encouragement of israelis to jews worldwide to settle there.
Lot of jews left India (except old people who did not wish to leave).
But his north eastern tribe thing is intriguing, they were not jewish before.

Hilarious. It's like saying someone was reading the Quran and saw the links between the Bible and converted to Christianity.

No, it's not the same thing. In the bible there are lots of descriptions of jewish traditions and practices, and he realised that they matched the practices and customs of his people. So he REALISED HE WAS jewish, not that he decided to convert to judaism. It works differently in judaism, its not a question of deciding to change religion.

Now whether his people are indeed one of the lost tribes of israel etc, I don't know. I'm sure that DNA analyses can confirm it. What I don't understand is why he should decide to change his country and identity suddenly because of this revelation, even if it is true.

Look these people from Manipur are indigenous Manipuris. I dont buy this lost tribes stuff..

Only place ancient Jews from the Middle East settled in India is mostly in Kerala. Most of those Jews have gone back to Israel.

If their ancestors have been living in manipur for the past 2500 years, obviously they will look like indegenous people, unless they also claim that they have been strictly intermingling only within their community since coming here. Only a DNA analyses (if anything) can confirm the ancient links, not how they look.

Well, the Jews in Kerala haven't mixed(for the most part). Jews usually don't mix.

But these people learnt of their jewish ancestory only recently. So I'm sure they must have been mixing until then.

I seriously doubt it. This is just my opinion.... Maybe some do, but its like not even 1% Jewish rest is regular Manipuri.

The fact they look like any other Manipuri leads me to believe they have been gasing each other up with this Jewish lost tribe non sense. What ever makes them happy. If they want to live in Israel, and the Israelis dont mind, they should go.

@janon
DNA analysis may not reveal anything . They are kuki-chin-mizo people collectievely called as ZO people spread in the states of Manipur, Nagaland,Assam and Mi(zo)ram. The entire population of mizoram are zo people. They number in about 2million and closely related to all other tribes of N.E specially Naga tribes.According to them they took the way out of Israel and reached here via China which might explain their looks.
Them being jew or not is not the concern, although I highly doubt it, but the lure of immigration to Israel is strong one and may motivate thousands others to convert and that won't be good thing for this place because Israel tend to allow only young people.
What is even more dissapointing is that they have lived here for thousands of years and this place gave them an identity , a culture and now the way they disown it so easily is absolutely heartbreaking, atleast for me..

In a country with the second largest Muslim population on earth, I find it hard to believe these people find it difficult to go to a restruant/eatery that doesn't serve pork.

Many people in my family are strict vegetarians and some of them don't even like to eat in places where any non vegetarian food is served. I don't think even they have had any paucity of restaurants to go to.

And most non vegetarian restaurants that I know don't serve pork anyway. That claim is just ridiculous, unless it is true in manipur.

Meiti (Manipuri) people are extremely conservative hindus, they don't eat non-veg,except for fish and egg
