Urdu is sweet and rich language but there is no comparison between Urdu and lone surviving Indo-Euorpean tonal language which is Punjabi (with all it's dialects / variants)

As i said everyone loves their mother tongue more. No doubt both are beautiful in their own right. I was kidding then.

Acha but why there are so many similarities btw urdu and punjabi, they both are indo european.nahi?

how?? what has spoken letters got to do with written letters?? not much... there are many spoken languages which use roman script, including two south east asian ones - filipino and indonesian.

by removing farsi words it will become Hindi.

there will still remain the arabi component... and i am not talking about removing the entire farsi set... just those which "expert" poets use within their own circles.

english language is understood by everyone person, not only by some "expert" group.

I know everyone love his/her mother tongue, and i am no way undermining Urdu as it's my national language. But you can't compare a language which is merely few centuries old with language which is there since time immemorial.

Urdu has borrowed has borrowed everything from other languages i.e. grammar from Hindi, vocabulary from Hindi, Punjabi, Persian etc.

Vocabulary of Urdu is mostly from Farsi,Turkic,Sanskrit and Arabic, the so called "Hindi and Punjabi" words are actually all derived from Sanskrit, and Urdu like Punjabi is based in Sanskrit but majority of Urdu's vocab is from the other languages i mentioned.

EDIT: Punjabi and to lesser degree Hindi has many borrowed words from Farsi and Arabic, so Punjabi isn't some pure Indic language either

Replace your mother tongue with Urdu. For the sake of Pakistan's unity. The great Ataturk did that with Turkey - must speak only Turkish in public.. I guess. But I'm not sure how multilingual Turks were at the time. @atatwolf @Sinan

Nobody use poetic vocabulary in day to day Urdu.
