What's new

I am a tough negotiator, let me save money: Parrikar on Rafale deal

Thanks to Qatar and Egypt,we are in a better situation in the negociations than we were some years ago.

Seriously, India is negociating as if we were selling carpets.
And,how are we supossed to tell the Qataris and Egyptians that they literally got "milked" and that we sold "cheaper" Rafale to India ?

I have doubts that it will not be signed before the French presidential elections...

Reason i said the more customers France get for the Rafale(i believe you will still get a few more customers apart from Egypt and Qatar) the less likely France will ever budge on this deal. So if India thinks it's smart, better sign the deal NOW rather than LATER. Except they don't want it anymore, then that will explain their actions recently.:D

23rd April 2017 & 7th May 2017.

Basically,if the government changes, nothing will happen, but just saying...

(It will change only if we get a government of radical pro human rights peace and lovists, but 0 chances to happen @mike2000 is back )

Well, granted we have more crazy so called 'human rights activists/politicians' here than in France. They are giving us serious headache. France is lucky that it still has pragmatic/realistic politicians/citizens. lol Don't worry though, that will change once we send you Corbyn.:enjoy:

Isnt the Indian Airforce under severe pressure for not having enough squadrons in place? This link says that according to a government report, by 2022 the number of squadrons in the IAF could fall to 25 (http://thediplomat.com/2015/04/the-indian-air-forces-big-problem-not-enough-pilots/). And here you have this joker Parrikar bragging about his bargaining skills lol

He seems to think he is so special/smart than others??

then why waste it again??? Can India Afford to loose some cash??? Yes, can india afford to waste time and let IAF Shrink ??? Big No..

from the begining itself i've been wrting here.. this DM Parikar is totally waste.. all he does is giving Interview, when it comes about procurement,, bloody congress is much better
They Signed Apache & Chinook Deal.Soon PM Modi will Sign for Spike ATGM & MR SAM during Israel visit . Point is Dassault has same level of Fault in this MMRCA Saga Like MoD or DM.

by 2022 the number of squadrons in the IAF could fall to 25
You are Forgetting that HAL is churning Out MKI's at rate of 16-18 Per year India currently operates 223 MKI in its inventory Alone And Final Numbers will Touch to 350 If what Experts are Saying (Excluding Mig-29UPG & M2k)

Lets not Forget By 2022 India will Operate 2 AC And Its Naval Wing Arms will Alone Touch in Fighter Strenth around 200+in Future

That our order is bigger and potentially more potent than any of those countries?

Well, there are the UAE that are serious about buying 60 Rafale..... (+ an option of 12 more for Qatar.)

36 + 18* is the official number of Rafale India actually wants.

Let's let the "100,200,300,4000" elsewhere as of now.

* : option

Originally the price for 36 fighters was $7 Billion. This has been jacked up to $13.25 Billion in less than an year.

Now all this projection of being tough negotiator to show a decrease in price by 5-10% on this jacked up price and declare victory to the gullible people.

Unlike politicians, tough negotiators don't proclaim.

Enough of this nautanki & tamasha.

India and france both can afford to wait. Given that americans have just landed, makes it more interesting. Things get hyped up but does not we should fall head over heals to get it done just for sake of it.

France may be able to wait (they are getting more orders all over the world) but the IAF is in no postion to wait, they have been screaming out for new jets for more than a decade now and only MKIs have been inducted. Right now the SQN strenght is dropping like a stone, it could be as low as 24 from a sanctioned strength of 42.

A complete fabrication bro. It's hovering arounf $8BN but the DM is said to want to get closer to $7BN.

Actually sir, as per the IGA signed by Hollande and Modi in January 2016 the total requirement is known to both sides and it is far higher than 54. It will be the largest export order Dassualt has ever received.

Irrelevent as from now until 2022 the IAF will be, on average, phasing out 1-2 SQNs a year of MiG-21, 27 and some Jags. MKI and LCA inductions will not be able to cover the shortfall alone- not even close and the GoI has set a mandate of reaching 42+ fighter SQNs by 2025, how else will this be done than by a second production line (after the LCA's) in India- as the ACM and DM have both now proclaimed will be agreed upon in the next few months.

If it is true then what discount is MP expecting from France? $0.5-1 Billion? Is the delay due to negotiations really worth the amount?

The delay could only be acceptable if it is due to the ongoing MII component being negotiated.

It's like comparing apples and oranges, neither of them were asking for the quantity India is nor were they in a postion to set up a production line in their country for a MMRCA. Volume discounts do very much exist even in fighter markets.

If it is true then what discount is MP expecting from France? $0.5-1 Billion? Is the delay due to negotiations really worth the amount?
Yes, it's very much over a relatively negliable amount such as that, MP is playing a very shortsighted game but then I have felt for a long time he is widely out of his depth.

The delay could only be acceptable if it is due to the ongoing MII component being negotiated.
That is happening in line with these talks, they cannot be de-linked but the agreement on that will only come later this year as it is far more complex and requires an Indian partner's agreements also. The off the shelf order for 36 is a matter of a few weeks/months away.

Parrikar seem worst than Antony  What save money when India's security is on line? And how much he is going to save?
Let him beat his chest for a while and then sign the deal claiming he has saved you billions. Let him be a poltican.
