Hurriyat leader meets Pakistan envoy after talks called off

Such meetings would inevitably have taken place regardless of comical chest-thumping and cry-babying from the new dilly.

I dont think the people of Pakistan/Kashmir really care (or even knew about) the existence of any upcoming "talks" anyways. Nothing would have materialized.

By NOT meeting with Kashmiri nationalist figures, it would have sent a very bad message to Kashmiris and Pakistan's stance on the matter. Therefore I would say it was a very cool-headed and smart move by the F.O. to go ahead with them. Pakistan will not be bullied or be told who it can and can't meet with by anybody.

that's a seperate issue altogether but quite frankly, the indians dont have much leverage in that regard

the Chinese have already destroyed indian bunkers and surveillance equipment and removed indian flags from those areas. its hard to imagine indians re-acquiring it due to China's military and economic superiority

We are allied not just with APHC but also with moderate groups like JKLF. APHC isnt one part but rather an organization that consisted of 23 nationalist parties that were merged into one (thanks in part to allies like Mirwaiz Farooq faction).

Combined - these groups will command MUCH greater crowds than any miniscule pro-indian elements that exist (as few as there are)

india's grasp over iOK is only through the barrel of a gun....not naturally. Ask the people what they think of india, they''ll have such "flattering" words

whatever it is - its a fitting snub and just a further proof that Kashmiris reject india and appreciate Pakistan's long-lasting support.

support (material , moral and otherwise) which will continue unabated. Nothing india can do about it.

Does it change anything ?
We dont think so.That Kashmir separatists are mere parasites counting on their own interest not kashmiris. Each of them have a lot of benefits from India including free health care in topmedical establishment.
Kashmir dont have any income they join their two ends with fund given by GoI that is nearer to the whopping 10billion$.

The meeting with separatist leaders prior to the a serious talks with two govts is not a new trend.Previous Govt in India allowed this. But dont gave any good for both Pakistan and India .
As far as we know that GoI dont interested in any type of talks with Pakistan.Otherwise they dont need to oppose these exercise which was alloeed by our previous govt
These usual talks not gonna change anything.Even Kashmiris dont care about these leaders meeting with Pak High Commission. And supporting base of these leaders are reducing exponentially .We can see that developments after every election. There was a time where the election caused complete shutdown in J&K .But now a days it is reduced to a few places and it will reduce again in future.
NDA govt is way different than UPA.So you can expect some reaction in future.

.
its not a war of economics....thats why you even have PhD students who are members of the nationalist/seperatist organisations. Has nothing to do with so -called "development" as you call it. Ask any tourism people candidly and they will tell you how much they want the LoC to be open for cross movement. It's only india that soils its undies at the thought.

at the end of the day - when you occupy people, kill them, rape them and bury many family members' dead in unmarked mass graves - naturally they will despise you, the way Kashmiris do

india has no locus standi over Kashmiri affairs

Stop day dreaming, I am sharing first hand experience from ground zero.

Gone are days of 90's things have changed on ground, education, communication and business has changed the faces, few people still live in old times, cant help them. New generation which is busy in catching up growth has no space for brainwash games.

No one want to be with pakistan other than those who are funded by pakistan.
Secondly the independent kashmir demand was only because of constant tension caused by pakistan and its reaction by India at large was effecting kashmir. Independent Kashmir would now be a bigger problem. With no more Indian Army and its investments it would be nightmare to safeguard Kashmir against extremist and Pakistan at large on top of that India and China would be a constant pressure.

All the sound heads now understand the things, it will take few more years to get rid of the old weeds and new generation will show how globally connected Kashmiris are and whats there future, wait next 5-10yrs. It wont surprise if Azad Kashmir will try to associate back again with India. (Though Pakistan will never allow it to happen).

. . .
Wondering what was negative in the above post, questioning Pakistans existence in future or responding to Administrator which didnt went well with the position :D

Reely, doesn't matter to you?

The reason the talks were called off was because Pakistan's High Commissioner Abdul Basit met Hurriyat leader Shabir Shah first and now Modi is butt hurt.

This once again proves India isn't interested in peaceful dialogue only state terrorism of our people of Kashmir and ancestral lands through continued violations of their basic human rights which includes their right of self determination as ordered by UNSC resolution 47 which India has continued to violate despite the fact that it too once was ask for the same from the British empire.

Terrorism against Pakistan, terrorism against China, terrorism in Bangladesh, etc... when will you guys stop murdering innocent men, women and children?

We will continue to assist the our peoples of Kashmir in their struggle for freedom.

I completely agree.

Our first obligation is to our ancestral land of Kashmir and its peoples not India.

Whether India wants to meet or not is up to them. We'd be more than happy to resolve all issues through diplomacy but this obviously shows that India has no intention on resolving anything through peaceful dialogue and simply wants war.

The era of separatists is overs this last brigade will die off with age.
Kashmiris have seen how India has developed and how development has helped them to improve and at same time have seen how Pakistan is ruined.

Apparently the BJP is doing a good job at keeping you people completely in the dark and ignorant of ground realities in the portion of Kashmir you occupy.

The only reason why there is even a sense of calm in occupied Kashmir is because Pakistan, under Gen. (retd) Musharraf, thought you people had brains and were interested in resolving the issue peacefully so he calmed everyone down and talked with Manmohan Singh about ending your occupation of our ancestral land.

Unfortunately, it is increasingly clear you are not interested in dialogue only state terrorism and refusing to grant the people of Kashmir the right to self determination.

With regards to development I personally see Pakistan having a much brighter future particularly if the government gets its act together.

Your country has developed largely on debt hence your massive short term debt crisis that has resulted in many of your companies going bankrupt or liquidating assets left and right to try to keep themselves afloat. To give you an example though Gujrat has been "successful" under Modi it also has the highest per capita debt in the entire country:

Pakistan's debt crisis is largely due to a burgeoning oil/gas import bill which shouldn't even exist if the state collects taxes to fund the exploration and subsequent extraction of our massive unconventional natural gas, shale oil and lignite deposits which are far cheaper than anything we could import, would create jobs (improving the economy) and can actually make us energy independent resulting in Pakistan being an export surplus economy. Those deposits are large enough to meet our needs for well over the next 50+ years at 12% yearly increases in consumption based on an energy elasticity of 1:1.

However, India has been running on cheap electricity from domestic coal since well before '47 which are now running:

Furthermore, Pakistan has yet to fully utilize our large gold, copper and rare earth metal deposits like those found at Reqo Diq and Saindik or even began to utilize domestic low grade iron ore (which has been, and particularly now is, profitable) in places like Kalabagh.

I've said this before and I'll say it again Pakistan can easily achieve 12+% yearly GDP growth right now and should have left India in the dust years back.

One short answer to your long economic analysis (if i accept that figures) Gujarat debt is largely due to heavy investments in capital intensive equipments which will further generate revenue unlike debt crisis of Pakistan where debt is taken to payoff interests on existing debt.

As far as energy is concern please read about Thorium, its availability in India vis-a-vis globe and Thorium Nuclear Power plans of India.
Probably it will help you in gaining some more knowledge to understand India.
Meanwhile also refer to topics on Uranium deals that India is signing on for interim requirements.
